Mailfriends Community Rules
Considering the real-time nature of the mailfriends-community, it is
impossible for us to review messages or confirm the validity of every
piece of information posted. Please remember that we do not constantly
monitor the contents of and are not responsible for any messages
posted. Because of this we want the moderators to help us as much as
they can. As a consequence of this moderator decisions should be
respected.
1. Not allowed postings/topics:
- to post any material which is knowingly false and/or
defamatory, inaccurate, abusive, vulgar, hateful, harassing, obscene,
profane, sexually oriented, threatening, invasive of a person's
privacy, or otherwise in violation of any law. Not allowed to post any
copyrighted material unless the copyright is owned by you or by
mailfriends.com. - Postings including only smilies! A post
only with smilies will be deleted. Sure if there is only one or two
then it's ok. It depends on the moderator. - Double, tripple, etc postings
- Postings
with too many wordwraps. If there are 3 or 4 then it's no problem but
if there are 10 or 20 it will be deleted immediately. - Topics which don't fit into the channel will be moved.
- Writing only in uppercase letters! Important for topics. All topics written in uppercase will be deleted immediately.
- All kind of massposting and spam!
- Private
topics/talk. If you want to talk to someone then drop him/her a pm or
write in the guestbook but dont do it on our public community channels!
2. Locking topics: The moderator of the channel decide
whether he/she wants to lock a topic or not. This should be used to
stop fightings or to show others whats not allowed.
3. Want to be a moderator? Moderators are always chosen
if there is a vacancy for a channel. So it is not necessary to ask us
to be a moderator. If there is a need for a moderator then just send an
apply via Private Message (PM) to to any of the modboard including your
mailfriends-nickname and why you think you are the best for the
channel. We prefer persons who know a lot about the channel. Example:
Doctor for Health channel. We also prefer persons who are used to the
functionality of mailfriends and who are also a member for some time
(at least 4 months).
4. Community language: Mailfriends.com is a site which
is written completely in english. We are sure that there are a lot of
spelling and grammar mistakes but we do our best to avoid them ![]()
Anyway! The langauge of your topics must be written in is english. It
is very hard for moderators or us to check the content of every post in
other languages. So the best thing we can do is to set up a rule: Posts
in community channels are only allowed to be written in english and all profile related information must be in Engligh. We dont want to discriminate against anyone its just the best way for mailfriends.
RULES & POLICIES FOR COUNTRY-CHANNELS
The rules are the same as written above. There are just some minor changes/additions:
1.Languages: The language of every country channel is
the common tongue of the country-channel itself. Because of the fact
that mailfriends is written in english and english is an international
language it is allowed to post posts/topics in english too. But the
moderator should watch out that the main language stays the language of
the country.
2. Want to be moderator of a country-channel If you
want to be a moderator of a country channel just drop a PM to one of
the MFAdmins and apply for it including the following informations:
Mailfriends username, why you think you are a good moderator for your
country-channel. Pre-requiste: You must be a member of the country you
want to moderate the channel of and used to to mailfriends itself. e.g.
sending pms, know the features, know how everything works, etc. So dont
hastiate and let us know if you want to help us out. Current moderator
maximum for each country-channel are 2 moderators.
Important: In most cases it is not worth to contact
the webmasters because of moderator decisions. Moderators are specially
chosen persons and know what to do. If you have any problems in the
community please contact one of the MFAdmins
