I like French and all, but it's useless to tell you the truth. The only place you really can use it is in the middle of nowhere (islands), France, or Africa. Most people don't really prefer speaking French in French speaking areas of countries, but I guess some areas in Belgium speak French and enjoy it (Wallonia)... but whatever, that's beside the point. It's useless. People want to make it out to be thi great language that's so romantic, blah, blah, blah. It's not all that fun to tell you the truth.
