lodobicus: I'm afraid that in our day's, they are not only in Lisbon but they are everywhere you look.
Lisbon is a great city, if not the best ( but thats hard to judge ), and it shouldn't be judged because of a group of people that do not think in anything else but themselfs. Besides, if you cared about portugal tourism, you wouldn't be doing such poor advirtisements to our beloved country.
I advise every tourist to visit Lisbon, the portuguese capital, full of history and full of energy. Everyone visits it.. its almost a certain destination for tourist in Portugal, just like Algarve.

I am from Oporto, so I will tell you to go there, it is beautiful and the food is great and like Lisbon is full of history. Actually if you can, you should go to both cities. You should go to both North and South, they are quite different, but they are beautiful in their own way.

well, i´m from lisbon and i love it, i've been in Porto a few times, but i don't know it very well, but i can tell you i didn't like what i saw. people say it's great thoug.. but if you come to portugal, it's worth paying some attention to the islands (madeira and açores) because they are really really beautiful.
In Portugal, Aveiro or Viana do Castelo. I like Lisbon too. Worldwide, its definitely LONDON. OK, I don't know many cities and I still need to go to Australia (Sydney seems to call me quite often), but London is ....... (I have no words). Its more than wonderfull
Lisbon is a pretty nice city.
i have stayed in portugal for 6 months ,as an erasmus student and seen many cities of portugal . Lisbon is nice..the interesting thing i saw ; there were a group of people who were enjecting heroin and in front of them,police group was there and just watching them without doing anything...it was not a good impression..
generally i was so happy of being in portugal ...
especially people are good !
but please if you are going to portugal . i warn you ; the kitchen of them is not good.
you know our turkish kitchen is so wide and delicious maybe just because of this i didnt like...
porto is nice city ! you should for sure see guimareas as well !

Lisbon isn't just nice...it's the capital of portugal, and not visiting it is a capital crime...lol...but the city of lagos in algarve (mencioned above) is for me one of the most beautiful in our country!
PS: our "kitchen" or better yet our gastronomy is perhaps along with italian one of the most richest in the world!

I have only visited Lisbon so far but I adore it I couldnt think of a nicer place to visit but hopefully one day I will return and visit lots of other places in Portugal too.
