First thing that comes to mind isn't very positive, so I'll just keep it for myself.

overacting emotions, "overproudness" (specially rich people), Brutality, corruption, imitation, cruelty, loudness, inhumanity (poor people) and polution. But I know that Philippines has a fucking government!
On the other hand when I hear Philippines: Beautyness of landscapes and people, kindly people, humour (they don´t take themselves so seriously), atmospheare...even life is hard, they don´t forget to laugh or smile. Filipinas and pinos are strong in their own way. I hope so much that Philippines will grow in it´s real beauty...I know it sounds utopian, but we all need dreams, isn´t it?

What would you do (if you had the strenght) to change the situation in the Philippines? For example: stop destroying nature and animals. or help poor or whatever people. change the schoolsystem? do something positive in your own place? what can you do without violence in the government? i know, the last question is the hardest, but i´m just interested about your answers.

A Spanish King, and the king of several other places too. He is the one whose Spanish Armada was defeated by the English under Elizabeth the first. He was around in an interesting time, the time of the conflicts between catholic and protestants in europe after the reformation, and of the thirty years war which included much of europe, and eventually ended in the treaty of westphalia, which is famously the first agreement of states recognition of eachother's sovergeignty, and the right for other states not to intefere in eachother's affairs. The precursor for the early united nations, and international relations ideas of treating eachother as equals and with rights to exist independently.
According to the wikipedia article he was also there at the time of the Turkish Ottoman rise to power, and fought them with a Holy League organised between Spain and the Republic of Venice, the Republic of Genoa, the Papal States, the Duchy of Savoy and the Knights of Malta.

Philip II, King of Spain from 1556 until 1598, King of Naples from 1554 until 1598, king consort of England (as husband of Mary I) from 1554 to 1558, Lord of the Seventeen Provinces (holding various titles for the individual territories, such as Duke or Count) from 1556 until 1581, King of Portugal and the Algarves (as Philip I) from 1580 until 1598 and King of Chile from 1554 until 1556.
* The Philippines, (Spanish name: Las Islas Filipinas) a former Spanish colony for 333 years, is named after King Philip II of Spain when he was still Prince Felipe (Philip).

The grave threat posed by the increasing Ottoman domination of the Mediterranean was reversed in one of history's most decisive battles, with the destruction of nearly the entire Ottoman fleet at the Battle of Lepanto in 1571, by the Holy League under the command of Philip's half brother, Don Juan of Austria. A fleet sent by Philip, again commanded by Don John, reconquered Tunis from the Ottomans in 1573. However, the Turks soon rebuilt their fleet and in 1574 managed to recapture Tunis. However Lepanto marked a permanent reversal in the balance of naval power in the Mediterranean and the end of the threat of complete Ottoman control of that sea.
