The difference between Japan and Sweden is that:

1. Sweden is a large country but has few citizens and Japan is small and crowded. Please move here if you feel like it, we need more nice people here

2. We also have right side traffic, Japan has left side traffic

3. Swedes are lazy sods and in Japan people work way too much (Karousha?)

Japan: I guess fish is popular food there and sea-food too.
Hungary: I refuse to eat any kind of thing living in water, sorry not my taste Very happy, and it is not so popular with other people here. must be because of the county's environment...

Japan: The cities (esp. Tokyo) are big really big, but very clean and even the air is fresher (in okinawa) compare to my puny little town.

that most shops close early...
(in malaysia, we can get hot food anytime of the day.. eg.. 4am in mamak shops)

culturally very very different as expected..

maybe Malaysia is also more `nigiyaka` (lively)

Last time, I saw this documentary about Japan. You could find a vending machine for almost everything. Everything.

I mean, the ones that I saw in TV was vending machine for cigarette and that a friend of mine told me once that you can find a vending machine for used panties.

They're allowed to play airsoft guns, the full-scale (1:1) version.

Last time while i was in my Japanese class, my Japanese teacher once told me that Durian can be sold at higher prices back there (yeah, you won't be able to get it into any hotel though).

Well, that's all i could think about the differences. Overall, they're quite open about certain issues such as sex and violence.

So....

It is an island close to a continent that it often feels superior to.
It has a constitutional monarchy.
The people are generally regarded as polite but not necessarily the most friendly or emotional.
They tend to speak their native tongue only and are a little suspicious of outsiders.
It has a strong imperial history.
It has a special - but sometimes fraught - relation with the US.
There customs are often considered strange by foreigners.

Enough about the UK!

I think there are a few similarities (see above), but also some important differences.
Japan is about 1.5 times larger than the UK but has twice the population, and because its geography is so mountainous these are crammed into a very small area. But London where I live is also very densely populated.
Religion: not much buddhism in the UK, and to my knowledge no Shinto! Maybe the Church of England counts.
And probably so many more, but I really want to visit to find out!

I know little about Japan, but I am sure that Japan has the double of inhabitants, is more technologically advanced, is a more seismic country, is more chaotic and there are many differences about culture, history, food (thanks God I'm Italian! Hungry) and in the sport Italy is stronger!

I learn to know Japan from watching anime (consider myself as anime lover).
I went to Hokaido last year during sakura season. I wish to go there again for diamond dust.

Difference? Japan is more expensive country than my country. Variety of Hello Kitty stuff is great!

I enjoyed the taste of my first Kobe beef. Ever since then, the all the other beef steak I taken tasted bland.

Well, Each countries has their own cultures.
I know that in Japan there are lots of club activities after school, such as Judo, fencing, calligraphy, etc.. But, in Korea, there is no time to do those kinds of club activities.
But, luckly, I go to Vancouver for studying abroad. lol
