lol i'm so totally not but some of my friends could be described that way, they aren't quite as stupid as your adverage chav but they are into the same stuff

in a way yes they are...but not all Chavs com from a poor background...and I have seen plenty of black chavs too.

Not living in the U.K., it is difficult for me to get the exact feel for the type of people you are talking about, but it sure sounds to me like they are the U.K. equivalent for what we call "rednecks" here in the U.S. Rednecks are not all poor and not all white. Some rednecks are decent people, some are not. Kind of sounds like the same kind of people.

I'm not a chav..but at high school I was labelled one because of who I was friends with and because I was into football.
im not a chav but i use some of those words, probably because its full of chavs up here and alot of them are scouse slang words. We call 'em scallies not chavs 
I'm surronded by them for two days a week at college and will be for another year and a half, doesn't help matters that i'm from the nearby town where it has a reptuation for the people being snobs
I'm not one, and I think I've never really been one... But some of my friends were though x) there's lots of them at my school

So you have chavs in the family? Well, just so long as they don't start wearing those ridiculous "goggle jackets" (see thread I started in the Beauty & Fashion channel, despite the fact that they are not beautiful and hopefully not fashionable!) - if they DO, they'll be REAL chavs, and beyond all medical help!

i am not a chav (scally) either.
I think of them as sheep, rather stupid and violent sheep, if you see them that generally wear the same clothing, if you have seen one you've seen 'em all. they have little concept for respect for anyone or anything. My sisters boyfriend is one, but i have little to do with him...
i suspect if we rounded them up and shot 'em the crime rate would drop quite alot. just an idea...not that i'm endorsing genocide or anything

Round 'em up and shoot 'em with a Burberry-patterned pop gun, that fires a little flag that says "BANG! YOU'RE A CHAV!" That way, they get embarrassed but no-one actually gets physically hurt.

It is interesting reading everyones comments towards a certain group within society. I know they generally have a reputation but when you think about it, we are slightly prejudice.
