Problems browsing the site IE7

Mailfriends endeavours to support as many web browsers as possible but as seen with the recent launch of bug ridden Microsoft IE 7 we have a hard time keeping up with all the versions especially when software does not adhere to internationally recognised standards.

For members who are experiencing problems we would like to suggest that you upgrade your browser free to Firefox. This is what we see as the industry standards complaint browser and the one that we know will work best with industry best practices. We hope to have normal service restored as soon as possible for the people who use IE 7 but cannot gurantee that you will not have more problems.

Fire fox is a superb browser and very secure broswer with an huge range of free add-on's for you to choose from.

Still waiting for you to come up with that version of mailfriends that you said would take two days to finish, that was quite a long time ago as I remember?

Still eagerly awaiting...

very quick but..

You should fix your own bugs, instead of using internet explorer as an excuse, when it works fine on other sites.
People still find problems with mailfriends even with firefox, so it is not really true to criticise browsers.

You have been bragging that your changes make the site accessible to all, so then live up the standards you have set yourself.

I alternate between IE 6 and Firefox...both of which work pretty well, all things considered...but...I do have a bit of a small issue with my photo gallery. When I use IE 6, the text boxes(navigation boxes?) on the left side jump over and overlap my photos by about a half inch. When I use Firefox to view my gallery photos, the text/navigation boxes on the right side overlap my photos on that side. Not the end of the world but something just isn't right there.

Oh...and sometimes certain elements of the web design tend to overlap each other...for instance..when looking at someone's profile and wanting to click "send message"...some design element....a bar overlaps that line of type and almost covers it up. Seems as though all the components of a page don't seem to know where to stop and what to not overlap.

If you think that is bad you should see what it damn looks like while trying to post this:(

Ignore my last post. Had fit to screen enabled in my browser.

femaleHoly_Smoke | 2 February 2007 - 3:23pm

@ John....You're dead right about IE7 having problems. I've just experienced some of those problems, and so I needed to uninstall that darned IE 7, (after a mighty long download via ordinary dial-up!)

I think that certain pc's might be affected worse than others. The tool-bar at the top of the screen won't even allow you to enlarge font. Well, I just had to get rid of the thing because a blind old bat like me doesn't appreciate that particular spot of trouble. I would not be at all surprised if it had other glitches too.

maletexas | 4 February 2007 - 11:14am

@rapunzal: To enlarge the type with IE7, hold down the control key while turning the scroll wheel on your mouse.

@rapunzal. For me the long download on dial-up for IE7 was worth it. It works great.

Are you using IE6? It doesn't like IE6. I recommend downloading either Firefox or IE7 I am using IE7 and not having any problems at all.

Sometimes when the boxes overlap I try right clicking and move the documents from side to side. Not a great solution...but further pages do seem to clear up after that.

I am new to this site and I posted a comment in regards to the chat server. Little did I know that this is such a sore spot. If indeed you are the managing director of this site when does your schedule kick in??? I mean we are talking almost a year ago. Don't you think you have the least bit of an obligation to mailfriends to let them know what is going on? Please take a LITTLE responsibilty. I have only been on this site for (this being my second day) I really enjoy the topics and the conversation not to mention the many differenct and friendly people on it. Wouldn't it serve you better to keep everyone happy??Confused
