somehow i not really like that guy. he kinda makes me think about some communistic leader since he has a lot of power. He owns several public companies (i seem to remember even a whole tv station) so he can use it quite good for what he wants

Well, he's actually the antithesis of a communist leader, considering his political ideology. What he might be said to have in common with one of them is the dictatorial and self-centred side of his own persona. But that is a trait common to any dictator, be he a left- or right-winger.

However, no I never liked him and I'm quite happy we got rid of him. Being Italian during his government was a rather ashaming experience. Humiliating, to say the least. He's a showman, not a politician.

Berlusconi is in my eyes the most horrible Italian politician since the "Duce" died and therefore, I really would like Mussolini fan Berlusconi, to retrire from politics as fast as possible.

Silvio Berlusconi should leave politics because he thinks of his interests and not of those of Italy!

I don't like him , but he is better than the current one, for whom *blurps*

maleSkyPiercer | 9 April 2008 - 12:37am

Not really.

Berlusconi is a fascist mafioso !

But I admire his business skills ! He is a true shark with great appetite and ambition. The way he gained control over the Italian medias and many other things. He is also one of the most successful chairmans in sport's industry. He is never reluctant to spend money in order to get the best players. AC Milan is more than a football club it's a family. The very generous professional contracts offered to former players in difficulty, the post career possibilities offered to the players. Respect for the players and the fans...The policy of his club is admirable. Generosity is a rare thing in football. Presidents of the football clubs are more like slave traders and players are mercenaries...

The politician really sucks ! The sympathy he feels for Mussolini and his family, his foreign policy, his statement about the superiority of his civilization...But I still prefer him to Romano Prodi ! A lot more charisma, more personality, Silvio is much more interesting !

Prodi is nicknamed the 'Mortadella' right ? Rolling on the floor laughing

Well, whatever he is, he can't be worse than the rubbish who "governed" Italy in the last couple of years (governed is an overstatement, the coalition in power was divided on everything and so every effective action was blocked, except for increasing taxation, emptying prisons of criminals, bringing the national economy to growth levels of 0.3% per year and other nice things of the kind). I am not sure what will be the result of the political elections in a few days, Berlusconi is the favourite though, and even if in Italy opinion polls regarding the electoral results are not allowed in the last 15 days before the vote, those published on the political betting sites (usually from the UK) give him a lead of about 6-8 points over his main rival, Veltroni. If he wins the elections I think that the italians, more than expressing trust in him, will have punished the previous majority coalition, "will have flushed the toilet on it", as a journalist wrote with a colourful but effective language. Anyway, there is nothing to be too happy about when citizens are forced to choose not what they think is the best, but what is, in their opinion, the less worse (italians are well used to that, since the years when the alternative was between the DC - christian democratic party- and the PCI -italian communist party- ). As for his skills as businessman, comparisons with Prodi are impossible, because the latter is not a businessman at all (when he was, many years ago, the president of the IRI -institute for industrial reconversion, an organization that had the role to control the privatization of some public industries-, he sold those industries at bankruptcy prices, and he was doing the same with Alitalia too). As for Berlusconi president of AC Milan, I agree with sky, he has been extremely successful: 5 champions leagues (more than all the other italian clubs have won in their whole history) and many other trophies don't need any further comment. But not all the italians are Milan's supporters, while they have all the same government (in theory), so if he is going to be Italy's prime minister again, let's hope he will do at least half as good at "Palazzo Chigi" (the seat of Italy's PM, in Rome) as he has done in via Turati (the seat of AC Milan).
