Yes i am Headbanger

malefirewalkwithme | 17 February 2007 - 9:11pm

NO -why should I?!?..for me personally, there's no reason. I consider myself as a human being,an individual,a guy and whatever & many other things first - so,the aspect of nationality, where I was born, patriotism and such "values" is ..well,of course it is part of me/how I gre up;I cant deny it -but I couldn't care less Smile
so,there's no reason for me to be proud of being german (its not about germany in particular,I know I would feel the same way ig being french, spanish, english or whatever!)
.I mean, what is "typically german" that I AND all other people in Germany share, except growing up with the same language?! barely nothing! so I don't define myself through the fact of my nationality.it's just a piece of paper (rather plastic Smile ) that says this.

female_nightwalker_ | 18 February 2007 - 1:27pm

i am just a human being, and that's enough i think so Smile

Why should I dislike old Germans, who are my ancestors? They fought and died for Germany in WWI or WWII and deserve respect and esteem. But the question was about the generations today. I can just speak for myself, yes I'm proud of being a German and of Germany in general with all its good and bad times.

The masquerade is a show for the star crowds. It’s death in vogue in saturnalian nights. The heart we share is a virus in our chests, a black piece filled with darkness and dead meat. Now our hearts beat on, the black is back in the deep. I see a million of nations in blank and hot leather. This black syndicate is a burning ballroom. Dirt, drinks and pills and Gucci drenched in blood. The flag we raise is held for the dead dolls so now we’ll watch all angels parade in black uniforms. Puppets without strings, now join the show. Demons without wings, we are death in vogue. Ten tons of lungs roar into the black vault. It’s disease, glam and champagne filled with nails. The syndrome is sucked into white blood cells and we march as vamps and wolves on red human oil. The faceless ones, the faceless ones. The leather swept ones that bring hate in tons. The faceless ones, the faceless ones. The subversion of laws through the rule of guns. Here they come as the models and machines and see the dolls twist inside of their dreams. I see the puppets whisper with manic tongues. Feel it, scream it out from the top of your lounges!

yes, I'm proud. we've achieved so many things in the past. and our history is much longer than these goddam 12years of hitler germany - many people forgot this.
germans were very progressive in science (kepler, einstein, von braun), germans wrote many classical books read all over the world (goethe, schiller, lessing), germans were good musicians (bach, beethoven), a german invented and built the first car (benz) and so on. why shouldn't we not be proud of all this achievements?
and who else can say they didn't start or attendenced a war in the last 60 years? we lived in peace and only took part in some UN-peace-keeping-missions. no real war involvement.

Why shouldn't we proud of being German? Well, I love to live here, and I think it's dull to label a country by it's history as people did before...Of course there are a lot of prejudices, but I think that serious, borig people with a potbelly can be found all around the world Very happy

femaledyingjuliet | 12 July 2007 - 3:29pm

Sure, we have many things to be proud of in science, politics and literature and sports. Moreover it's just a cliché that we are always on time and we are obsessed with rules and orders.

i am proud of being a german as much as a french guy would be proud of being french or a spanion of being spanish. i love to live here. i ve seen different worlds, but it's nowhere as good as it is at home. germany is a great country full of very intelligent people. people like to criticize our school system but as a matter of fact it is one of the most advanced. i hate the idea that people expect me to feel guilty for what the nazis have done during wwii. but wwii wasn't my fault and i am not about to take responsibility for it. things have changed in germany and in the majority of cases the right steps in the right directions have been taken. people need to stop complaining about what they don't have or what they don't like. i have to admit that i am going to move out of germany into another country, but i will always take pride in the fact of me being a german!

femalesaltsweetsugar | 16 July 2007 - 5:45am

hm i think everyone should be proud of his nationality. i am half russian and the other half german ... and i am more proud to be german. because russians HERE just have a to bad name. but of course i would never deny to be russian.. (of course im proud to be russian too!)
it is our damn history in germany which doesn't allow us to be patriots!!!!!!!

female_chrissie2511_ | 24 July 2007 - 3:46pm

I'm proud of being myself, no matter if German or something else

femalejaimee | 27 July 2007 - 10:55am

i wouldnt consider myself paticular as german more as european because the future of our country isnt only here its in the whole of europe!

hehe, well i passed out the opportunity to move and live on germany and I'm not sorry. i think it is a great country to visit, spend the vacations, visit relatives, etc. but i wouldn't imagine myself living there. however, i don't have many reasons to be proud of my nationality also.

femalesummerrain | 17 August 2007 - 9:56am

how can you be proud of something you never had any influence on?

yes i am proud of being german. why should i dislike my country? i live here and have anything i need, could be so much worse Wink

malerobgen | 28 August 2007 - 2:33pm

Hhmmm ... there are two souls in my heart, the one says "yes, of course" and the other says "no, rather not".
I'm not proud of some historical facts in our history, therefore I feel very sorry and ashamed, because I know it has had effected my family too. It's sometimes not easy to handle with that, especially when I sometimes hear the news that some racial attacks happened again. It's even more worse then when they say it's a problem of the eastern part of Germany which isn't true, but you know that journalists sometimes like to exaggerate and I fucking hate that. Then it seems that every one who lives here is a racist. I've never been and won't be!
On the other side we as germans can be very proud of country because of different things in science, literature, sport and etc. ... Smile

malemirror | 30 August 2007 - 2:57pm

i totally agree with summerrain!!! i dislike any kinds of patriotism. i don´t want to judge generally people when their prud of their countries, but i also know that in the reality no one needs it. for me are all these patriotfanatics blind sheeps. we´re all human and we should share, understand each other and don´t have fake prides. it isn´t your fault or your work that you are a german or whatever else. you should have to be pride of what you (and i mean really YOU as an individual person) give to the world. and there it really doesn´t matter where you ar comming from.

malevioletas | 30 August 2007 - 4:10pm

@summerrain or mirror: "never had any influence on"?

Of course, nobody has any influence on the place where he/she's born. But everybody can have an important influence on the society where this person live in. it's not only taking part in the elections every four/five years - there are so many chances to be active - at school or university, at clubs or unions beginning in sports and ending in fire brigades. Or you can be active in journalism, politics or culture. And finally you have a lot of things in the (German or what ever else) society you can be proud of.

malemirror | 30 August 2007 - 4:48pm

@violetas: yes, in that case you´re right. but what i´m talking about is, when some footballfans says: yeeeaaah we win the match or something like that. well, but that isn´t true. the footballplayers win a match, not the fans. and it´s still my opinion that an individual good human is better, than someone who just wanna be someone (even if it´s not his influence). there are more than a lot of assholes in this world who are proud to be of something that is only standing on a paper (even if they had a bad character). not only one country is our hometown. if you think a little more than only in small and easy ways, than you would understand that the whole world is our hometown. the nature gave us life to be wherever we want. it may sounds utopic, but that is the truth...live with it or be in your little cage of world.

maletvdh | 3 September 2007 - 11:15pm

no .. and therefor i'm not living in germany any more Smile)

maleGerman-boy | 30 November 2007 - 11:11pm

Yes, I´m proud of beeing a German!!!!!!!
Germany is a very nice, attractive and interesting Country. It´s NOT so because we have special teams, special rockgroups and so on....It is a great country BECAUSE we are a civilized nation.
We respect our people, our new immigrants and our older people. We have a social, humanity and regardful core. We try to help our people in different situations...for example our socialsystem. Everybody, who needs help, can get benefits. We try to spend a lot of money for poor people...for example = "Weltspendenmarathon, SOS Kinderdörfer, social organisations and so on.
Germany is a diplomatic state. We don´t need our military for war - we need it for rebuilding!
Our History is much longer then the WWI and the WW II....these are bad points in our history....especially the "Hitler-Time". It was round about 12 years. It was a terrible time, but it is the past. We don´t have anything to do with this. We are the third generation after it. We are the new generation!
And the older German, which fought at the battlefields weren´t proud of it. The didn´t do it, because they "loved" it, they had to do it, because Hitler forced them! A hard time for everyone....
I think every country has a special history with bad times....
And I today it´s unfair when people say: You belong to Germany....so you are a "Nazi"...It´s hard and it´s not true!!!

I think the next problem is, that Germany hasn´t got a beautiful landscape...it´s very boring.
Only in the south we have some mountains and in the north we have the northsea. That is all!
Smile

Greetings from Germany....

Smile
