Serious Thread - Can you help find Madeleine McCann ?

  female
admin | 12 May 2007 - 11:06pm

This little girl was taken from her parents a few days ago. Its her fourth birthday today.

Can you help by:

- emailing her pictures to everyone you know

- Posting about her in all the forums you post in

- Do whatever you can think of

You will find information on this case at

http://www.ceop.gov.uk/

http://news.sky.com/skynews/picture_gallery/picture_gallery/0,,70141-1264357-1,00.html

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/europe/6627605.stm

http://crimeblog.us/?p=399

Please, lets see if we can do something small to help this girl get home if its not too late. We cant save all the kids that are in danger or being abused but maybe we could just help this once. Johnf

It is very unfortunate that hundreds if not thousands of children just like this are kidnapped or sold around the world every single day. Many do not have pictures like this cute little girl, they are children that are stolen or sold in very poor third world nations in Africa, Asia, and Latin America, even in poor areas of rich countries like the U.S. , U.K., and Germany. These children are sold to rich people around the world for large amounts of money because they have no children. They are also kidnapped for the brothels of the world. Drug addicted mothers often sell their children or just dump them off somewhere. The child shown is cute but she is just one of hundreds of thousand. Nevertheless we will be vigilant and on the outlook.

It would surprise me if any of the few active members here knows anything, or even bother to use those unclickable links. Maybe you should ask around in the chat for a while?

This is absolutely horrendous. It tears my heart watching the story on the news and still no results.
How could her parents go to dinner and leave such a little girl and 2 younger babies alone in a hotel room? Rage
And why weren't the boarders of the country closed sooner?
It truely is upsetting.
Lets hope they find her soon..and safely.
Yes, I am doing all I can to help her get found...there is an email going round at the moment here to make everyone aware.

@ Javelin, yes I agree.

@ Slakker, you are a heartless asshole!

Thank you Caroline for seeing my point. Hundreds of missing children have been found but not released. They are chained to looms for 18 hours a day, without pay, no school, and just food, they are making shirts, pants, and skirts for Walmart, Target, and other stores. These "factories", dingy dark rooms full of dust, the children sleep on the floor besides the looms, these plants are located in China, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and other countries, it is what is called "globalization".

In Africa many children are taken from the families and put into the army, "soldiers 9 and 10 years old are growing old in a hurry.

Is anyone under the illusion that slavery has been abolished? I assure you it is alive and well and goes on daily.

Now it hurts all of us to see the picture of the cute little girl and I hope that she is found but to me she is no more important than the half starved, filthy, child with sores that they get out of dumpsters half alive at the best.

The story was on the evening news here in the U.S. tonight so there is world wide coverage going on and that is very good. We might be lucky on this one and they find the little girl.

Can I ask you...slakker...dustybunny....how many 4yr old were snatched in your country lately?

Yes it may be going on around the world...and yes people go missing everyday. but not everyday does a 4yr old go missing (snatched from a hotel room) with her parents 200yds away.
It has nothing to do with cute faces. It is an english child, and this website is run by english people, and this DOEST happen all the time...infact it is very rare. Why should we not care?

Had the same thing happened to an Oz kid of said age....and you ran this site...wouldnt you do anything you could to help?

I see forums like this with a large member base as a very good place to advertise things like this no matter what a few might say. Many members have friends outside this site so the more people spread the word the more people are aware and can keep an eye out. It's a blooddy good idea.

slakker wrote:

@slakker..if you will look at the second post in this thread, you will find that those links ARE clickable. That's the kind of thing you can do instead of posting arrogant bullshit to prove how much smarter you are than anyone else.

@others that missed the point: Just because there are missing and exploited children around the world, by the thousands, that does not mean that we have to ignore any one of them. I really don't know what kind of mental problems some of you have, but it is pretty scary. To try to derail anyone's concern for a missing child is mean spirited and evil.

Of course it is all very sad but what is so special about this girl in comparison to all the children that dissapear, get kidnapped and so on?

malejavelin | 14 May 2007 - 11:24am

That is exactly the point I've been saying Micha, she is a very cute girl with wealth physician parents that is getting world wide coverage. Would the same world wide coverage be given to a child taken from a ghetto in Los Angeles? NO.

It happens with everything you see on the news. A 2 million dollar home across town catches on fire it is a major disaster BUT if my neighborhood of poor homes all burn down, who cares?
It will make room for 2 million dollar homes to be built.

If a tornado hits a poor neighborhood, who cares? it was their fault for living in a cheap mobile home. But if that same tornado hits a rich neighorhood, oh my, what a disaster.

This is terrible! I have a girl myself who's almost three. But I can't imagine I would leave her alone in a hotelroom though. Haven't they learnt from Jamie Bulger back then? Anyways, I hope Maddy will be found really soon and unharmed. Sick people are the rich who actually BUY a child! If it was me, I would buy the child too, but would contact the police right after because I would only buy to make sure the child is save with me and that the culprits will be taken to prison. Don't even know how rich people can prove to the authorities that they suddenly have a child that is rightfully theirs?

Yes its sad that shes gone missing...

But we kno who to blame... HER PARENTS!!!!!!!!!

They possibly wont find her at all.. she possibly got killed for that matter...

Why the hell would you leave ur kid alone to look after the 2 other siblings JUST to go out to dinner..
Pathetic.. and now looks what happend

femaleredwillie97 | 14 May 2007 - 12:13pm

True...but why blame this little girl?
This little girl doesn't know that she's rich or care if shes some sort of political or media tool.
She's just a little girl...like many little girls or little boys who go missing. Perhaps they don't all get the bells and the whistles. Life isn't fair. But it has nothing to do with her.
It's not her fault.
Technically, I suppose it is irrational to think we could concentrate on every single missing child or adult...and hype up every single injustice and crime. Isn't possible. So we do have our symbols.
Blame ourselves and what we chose to consider important or not..
Finding one will always bring more hope for finding more. One step at a time is all we can really hope for.

yeah really sad for her parents and family and everyone that knew her.
but im wondering aswell, why this girl is more special then everyone else.

where was that topic 2 weeks ago, when an 18 year old girl in belgium dissappeared???? no one cared, only people in belgium knew it, anyway dont look for her anymore, she was found dead in a canal a week later, killed!!!!! i just find it really disturbing that 2 weeks ago, no one said a thing, where was that topic to find that girl?????? or is she too old!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! no matter what age she/he has its always the same and always bad!and actually this topic pissed me off, yeah its sad, really sad, but you know!
you just do it because she lives in your country, but what about those million other girls and boys, if you do it for her, do it for every single boy or girl that get kidnapped or dissapears!

www.childfocus.be here are just some kids from belgium on, if you can do it i can do it too.

I think Stef you will find that those are teenagers who have most likely run away, and far from the same situation as a pre-schooler who was snatched in broad daylight.

most of them are gone for so many years, that they made pictures of them how they would look like now, thats why they look older!
but most of them where kidnapped when they were 2 or 3 or 6 years old and yeah indeed a few at the age of 12

and what if they ran away, do you think their parents feel different then those parents of that young girl????????????????? i dont think so!!!

maledustybunny | 14 May 2007 - 10:14pm

Can I possibly say something without getting shot for stating the obvious?

Is this going to be a flash in the pan or are people going to now genuinely want to help missing persons? I mean this time last week missing persons was not on the agenda for Mailfriends... now it's the current hot topic. And that's great. It's fantastic to see this happen. BUT... will it last? Are people just going to focus on Madeleine and then forget about the whole thing by this time next week?

Or will we have some people on here who really do care about things like this and actually start doing some thing about making this a more permanent part of the mailfriends community. I certainly hope so... and I'm happy to put my hand up to help if the site was willing to go down that path.

Missing is missing nothing is different. How could one know some are missing because they ran away while some were snatched? Age basing is not a good measurment.

I have nothing against the posting of this kind of topic on channels here, and in effect I support the idea, but I find someone making this specific case rather big. We have more missing kids at this age than just one and only one English kid.

Of course, a human with a heart would definitely want to help and would definitely want to see the little girl returned to her parents.

Of course I will e-mail about this girl.. but probably the best thing to do is e-mail people in the UK..

I know there are many thousands of missing all over the world.. maybe tell about somebody you know who is missing near where you are.

It can't hurt.

Is there some kind of code with which we can link?

This makes me feel sick thinking about how the parents went to a restaurant down the road leaving their baby and a young girl asleep. I think the mother had IVF for one of the children, mothers I've met who've had that are really very protective of their children because they really wanted a child that much. I just thought things seemed abit suspicious - why leave the baby? --- because it wasn't a kidnapper with a heart. Maybe it's just a really bad coincidence that someone entered the house when the mother wasn't there, because the mother did go back a couple of times to check on them.

But anyway, I just hope these parents learn from it next time, that the girl is safe and that there's something they haven't told anyone - like she has another dad who took her because he misses her so so much, and I hope others can learn from it too...

The other day in the supermarket a mother with two children let the youngest (looked younger than 4) run rrriiigghtt to the other end to go to the toilet on her own, they didn't even watch to see if she had got there ok or was coming back. She just shrugged it off when I suggested she should go with her... I mean with all this in the news lately.... ggrrrr

femaleBetelgeuse | 25 May 2007 - 3:54pm

Google has 1.250.000 results about her, i think this matter is being exaggerated too much and i think as people spend too many effort people who stole her from her parents will probably want too many things to give her back. So sad to see that girl becomes a media tool.

malejoby | 26 May 2007 - 9:03pm

Let' s hope everything works out and she is found unarmed and that other missing children are found
