I hear Juventus has a budget of 70 million Euro's to spend. Whether thats true or not, were see. But they still have a lot of the top stars of the past. Keeping them will be a different matter as Buffon, Trez-a-gol, and others are rumored to want out of Turin. If they can bolster their current side they should be a threat once again.

Overall I predict a top 4 finish but with AC Milan and others surely going to upgrade this summer as well, winning a Scudetto might be a season or two away.

I don't think we're gonna win anything next year... just hope to finish in the first 4 places. It will take some years to become again a great team... but well, hope never dies Razz

It will be difficult that the Juventus win the scudetto the next year because in spite of a high budget and the possibility to pay engages millionaires, many players of high level would not never accept the transfer in a team who do not participate to the champion's league and that must be rebuilt. I think that will recommence to win between a year or two, but it is not a problem for me: I am a AC MILAN fan:)!

What if NOBODY wins the "scudetto"? This morning on a motorway a Lazio supporter was shot dead by the police in what seems to have been an accident. I hear now on TV that in Rome bands of hooligans are wreaking havoc on the streets, they assaulted a police station, are burning cars, buses, breaking shopwindows. And the authorities decided that the police don't have to intervene for fear of making the disorders even worse!!?? Other incidents happened in Milan and Bergamo. Last year a policeman was killed outside the stadium in Catania. Is it so difficult to imagine that some day something even more serious could happen ? That could be the end of football in Italy.

If football is the vehicle for losers to alleviate their frustrations by killing and destroying, if football has become the property of televisions, if the results of football are more fake than a 30 € "Rolex", then the end of football is good riddance to bad rubbish.

Indeed...But, of the problems you listed, only the role TV stations play in football is a relatively new phenomenon (a phenomenon that brings in money and keeps the show going on, mind you). The other 2 are old history and they are somewhat part of the game now. Football fans pretend indignation when something bad happens, but soon all that vanishes into thin air, especially in front of some great success of the team they support. What happened to all the good intentions of cleaning the sport environment after "calciopoli" when Italy won the world cup in 2006? There is a dose of masochism involved in being football fans in Italy today, we are a bit like drug addicts. At first they may get a kick out of the stuff they use, but after a while they end up taking it just to relieve the sufferings of the abstinence, even when they realize that it is just rubbish.
As it often happens, even in this case the discussion is turning away from the original subject of the topic, but also on Italy channel the show must go on Smile

i dont think football is the problem, at the end of the day it is only a game and you dont see stuff like that happening anywhere else. Of course, every country has extremists, look at holland and the feyenoord and ajax fans, they are true hooligans. The problem is politics, in italy the politics are a mess, in fact a joke and it is so corrupt it is unbelievable.

When roma fans come to england nothing like this happens because the country is too secure, too well policed in these situations, however when any other team plays roma in italy, for some reason there is always violence... it's the polices fault, they are corrupt and menefreghisti which means they fans can run riot. They also deal with things in the wrong manner. Look at when man united played roma last year, the way the police beat and attacked the man utd fans was disgusting ( believe me i hate manchester united more than anything but their actions were horrible). If the police are so brutal, its no wonder the fans are the same.

femaleel1973 | 15 November 2007 - 9:55pm

I agree with albachiara46, if some hooligans are free to ruin this sport in Italy and even to blackmail football clubs, the fault is of those who don't arrest and throw in jail those criminals. England had a serious problem with hooligans some years ago, measures were taken and the problem was solved. From what I have seen myself ( in London years ago I went to watch a match at Highbury), football stadiums there can now be safely attended also by families with little kids. It could be solved here too, IF there were the willingness to solve it. But albachiara also gave the reasons why I used a big IF in my sentence.

That's it, it is a political problem. Nothing serious has ever been implemented to stop hooliganism, and honest supporters are those who pay the consequences of the criminal behaviour of a few hundreds of people. They are forbidden from following their favourite clubs on away matches and are always at risk of being involved in the incidents caused by that scum. What happend last Sunday in Bergamo is a very indicative event: a few dozens of hooligans didn't allow the match Atalanta-Milan to be played, in spite of the thousands of people who had gone to the stadium just to watch the game in peace. Do you want another recent example of how politics here is a joke? Today a judge in Turin refused to validate the arrest of some small drug traffickers. The reasons of this refusal? "With the pardon (that's the indulto) and all the other measures aimed at safeguarding offenders" the judge said, "it is useless to put those people in jail, they would be out again in a couple of days". That says a lot, doesn't it?

I always disliked Juve, 'cause i supported Inter
But not after Modgigate.. Inter is rather boring, they could play more attractive. I wish Juve come back to favourites and win Squdetto next season..
