Legalizing polygamy?
I heard today that two Danish youth political parties (Venstres Ungdom and Radikal Ungdom) think that polygamy should be legalized in Denmark. They say it should be legal to have several wives or husbands if all parts agree to it. Is this a good idea?

I don't know what man would wish to have more than one wife, but such heroes have my utmost respect. Let them do that, if that's what they want.

Not a good idea. this is the worst thing for a middle eastern woman. Nothing but heartache. But at least the women get included in this law.
For me it is not a good idea.. but if in future if the majority of the population will want it, it will be necessary take this into consideration.

It's not a good idea at all.
I agree with Shaka. I admire those "heroes". To be able to deal with more than one partner is a huge advantage in life.

Perhaps you haven't gone through the text They say it should be legal to have several wives or husbands if all parts agree to it . Going by the underlined text I am up for it
No doubt about that ... It shouldn't be legalized at all ... these days there are a lot of people who have an affair with someone outside the marriage ... but that happens mostly when they have the feeling that they miss something in their marriage ... as far as I know wife & husband are the names used for partners who are married therefore it may not be allowed. You can marry one person at the time ... if you are not happy with your marriage, than divorce and re-marry or just be in a relationship with the person you think you would be happier ... 2 or more husbands/wifes, would be demolishing the meaning of marriage

Polygamy DOESN’T exist in Denmark. Well at least not legally. Or does it? There was a case recently where an Iraqi translator came to Denmark bringing along his 2 wives. First the authorities said he had to divorce at least one of them. But since he married them in Iraq and the law here technically says that it’s illegal to wed more than one person at the time here in Denmark, but not illegal to be married to 2, they’re now taking it to court to figure out whether or not he can stay married to both
If it turns out that they’ll let him stay married to both wives I guess it means that people who are into polygamy can just go abroad to get married, unless they change the law. ![]()
Also, I heard some ‘experts’ recently say something about that maybe it’s against human nature to stick to one mate, just like some other animal species don’t do that. Interesting thought, maybe that means that it’s in the genes of the human species to have polygamous relationships. Or maybe that could explain the high ratios of infidelity and divorces. ![]()

If all parts agree to it, why not.
