UK Flooding

What do you think to the floods that have happened in the UK of late?
Have you noticed that they are mainly happening on "flood meadows"? Places that have always flooded throughout history.

All the new housing developments that they are building, a lot are built on these flood grounds because they are seen as available un-used land. Then this happens and they ask WHY? Well duh!

I'm more concerned about the people affected, rather than making smug, smartass comments.

I was more concerned as to why there is flooding in JULY. I grew up in a small village in Wiltshire, where each Spring, the water level trapped under the chalk would rise, flooding the houses. This was in the sixties, several years we had to move everything upstairs, with the ground floor under 40cm of water, but this was March/April not July.

Just because you lack in knowledge about the environment and logic, doesnt make my comments smug or smartass. They are facts. WHat are you doing then for the people effected you care so much about?

I think the floods are awful but I think with global warming, the general disrespect to the environment and as Inamorata pointed out people developing flood plains for the needs to cram more humans in everywhere then they will become a regular feature in people's lives.

Where I live was flooded about 6-8 years ago and it was so terrifying and my house wasn't even flooded. But again in Barlby there are 2 housing estates built on flood plains and plans to build more. No wonder these peoples homes are ruined.

The EU should dig deep into their pockets to help out. The amount of money Britain poors into the EU and gets nothing in return. It's shocking. Mad

So true @ maranello.

It was on the news in Sweden today, damn what a flooding youve got in UK, worst floodings since 1947 they said, thats 60 years ago. Well we've had piss-weather too, and some floodings, had a total of 84 hours of sunshine this month, must be the worst summer ever.

What do i think? I feel sorry for the people who have had their homes/things/lives destroyed. At the same time though, i have to be grateful that i'm not living in an area that has been affected by any flooding.
