Ummmm because rock is better than any of that other crap. I personally go for rock, alternative, emo, techno, and that sort of stuff. But actually most teens go for hip hop or rap. In all the schools I've been to in the last three years the population of rock liking teens was like 1/5 maybe at the most 1/3

lol not all teens listen to rock some listen to pop and other metal. and ocassionally we have the few that listen to classical music 
but rock music is popular because its played on the radio. i mean i doubt many radio or television programs promote death metal. just image this really old guy who turns on his radio and then hears screamo music. hahahah

i think that teens..me being one..like rock because there are soo many diffrent kinds, like alternative,punk,hard core, emo and indie...I myself love indie....almost everything these days is rock but we don't know it.
i listen to Mai Kuraki, Aya Hirano, Yuki Kajiura, Jed Madela, Mary J. Blige, and those Harlem Gospel Singers. i don't like rock music. and i'm a teen. go figure.
