Today it is 94 years since The Little Mermaid was ‘born’ and she has been guarding Langelinje ever since. She has had a bit rough life so far, but you can’t really tell just by looking at her. I’m sure H. C. Andersen would be proud of her if he could see her.
It was celebrated by 94 girls jumping in the water forming the number 94.

How a person aged 94 can be named as "LITTLE" Its simply ridiculous .... Ummm I think sje shud have been named as Old Mermaid and btw I even doubt whether she can jump at such a old age ...I hope she hasn't broken her ass while jumping ...

She was given that name when she was born! Or actually several years before she was born Wink But just because people grow older they don’t go changing their names just to make them more appropriate.. well unless you’re a numerology fanatic. Besides, she hasn’t aged at all Very happy Oh, and she doesn’t jump at all actually, just sits on her ass all day long.. and night.

Haven't you read the story of the Little Mermaid before dear Sourav ? Smile
It's said there that Sirens can live for centuries, so for a Siren it would take maybe 300 years to consider her as an old person Wink

The statue is much characteristic and his history very important, but if I think of the cold that I have taken to see it...Snowman I do not know whether I would do again it!

Little Mermaid has always been my favorite story since Disney's made it into a movie. And then I tried to read the Andersen's version of the book, and loved it too.. Smile so, Happy Bday, Mermaid... Wink

Andersen is a good writer. But...his tales are so sad. My favourite one is "The little match girl".

Yeah 'The Little Match Girl' is really sad, but I don't think all of his fairytales are sad. Smile
