owh.. for martial arts we do have some but basically they are all called 'silat'. there are all sort of 'silat' out there that u can learn, each with unique origin and rituals. ![]()

Malaysia would be one of many places in South East Asia I would visit, given the chance.
to be honest im not well versed of it myself. but i'll try. silat can be purely aesthethic, meaning it is only performed in a ceremony such as wedding, or on stage performance. this type of silat emphasise more on its movement patterns and limb gestures, might have a tad bit of defensive/offensive elements but most of the time, it seems like a dance! another type of silat is just like the other martial arts, you train your agility, endurance and strength to evade and to attack by bare hands or with weapons. A weapon traditionally associated with silat is kris. and traditional costume for people practising silat is a headband loose shirt and pant and a type of waist covering. and they all wear black
some silat organisations practise rituals such as soaking their hands in boiling oil or reciting some kind of mantras before they start training. but well.. im not sure how true this is though
