I like people who use sarcasm in a positive way without insultings and all that. In my opinion only a few people are able to be sarcastic, those who have something to say. Sarcastic people sometimes suffer more than we think of, it's sometimes only a feign of what they really think or feel. See behind the persons character and analyse, because they aren't as strong as they act. It's not a weakness, it's just a thing called self protection.

When I have read Robgen's comment, I can consider myself a sarcastic person ... So I am going to see it from this angle ... It happens rarely that I say things, so mostly they are sarcastic remarks on stupid things mostly ... Not insulting at all ... This is a way of (as robgen has said) self-protection ... The only thing that would make it "easier" to handle is not paying too much attention on the remarks ... And trying to analyse what can cause such remakrs .. Doing a kind of psychological analysis of the child can work although I can't say that at the moment ... Maybe later on I can say if that is going to work because in about 2 hours I have to see a psychologist.

Sarcasm is extremely irritating, and said by some as "the lowest form of wit". I think it's often used as a substitute for real humour.

True. I had a lot of nasty sarcasm directed at me many years ago when I was at school, which is probably why I don't like to be sarcastic myself in my adult life.

There's nothing wrong with a bit of sarcasm. In small doses it can get most people through the day.

sarcasm is good;maybe sometimes even essential..depends on the degree of sarcasm,when it turns into cynism its often not so funny anymore.

Its a nasty sarcasm. Like if you happen to not say something perfectly correct, or you are not being specific enough... wooah, watch out! My ex was like that and so is my son.

Personally, if someone is sarcastic to me, he gets it right back at him.
But as it is for your kid, that might not be the best solution. Maybe ignoring it would be better and wait till it wears of.

You are totally correct, it is a defense guard. My ex's whole family is like that, (Hurt them, before they get a chance to hurt you was what many of them told me) Wow real family values here!
I had chatted many times with my son about this and since he lives with me 24/7 so he has come around a lot.

Sarcasm can actually be okay if used in an intelligent humour sort of way. It's all about how you respond. Some people respond immaturely, some with a more informed view.

if someone is sarcastic with me, i don't deal with it, i don't have to, there's no time for it, and there's more important things to do with my time. usually i just ignore it. but sometimes it can be a little difficult to not deal with it. i really should not be dealing with it at all, not just not dealing with it most of the time.

i can be sarcastic when i want to be, but the way i deal with sarcastic people is to dis-arm them with the power of laughter, if there trying to be nasty but not coming straight out with it, laugh at them. If there trying to be a smart ass, then just brush it off, if you don't react against it, they lose the power to affect you.

Well that how i do it anyway, other people will have other ways i suspect.
