Do you have more respect for the Dalai Lama than the Pope?

The Dalai Lama. No contest. The Dalai Lama is living in awareness and is very intelligent. The pope is just an idiot.

I've definitely more respect for the Dalai Lama than the Pope.

malehappyfeet | 25 October 2007 - 2:54am

It isn't an easy question as it sounds. I am not certain if I could pick since I don't know either of them well enough to make the call. Let me just say that they have the "titles" to go by and it isn't given to them for nothing. They each get their respect.....due to them with different communities.

I don't believe any of them is an "idiot" or ever will be.

No question about that. Dalai Lama of course. -though I am trying to respect everyone and all forms of life. But as much as I know about the Pope... Can't really praise the idea of it.

malesexymaleincity | 25 October 2007 - 1:48pm

Dalai Lama. I cannot respect someone who demands respect (kissing him or showing respect in some way). Respect is earned not demanded or forced. Pope is a fool who is deceived and is deceiving other people. The Dalai Lama is humble and simple (no ring kissing or popemobile).

femalePetiteStar | 26 October 2007 - 7:48pm

Dalai lama.

Though I kind of liked the previous Pope aswell, and this one isn't too bad neither.

maleAtreides | 26 October 2007 - 10:27pm

None.

I have little respect for the current pope and JP2, neither as church leaders or as persons. Forbidding condoms and all that makes them mass murderers, discrimination agains gays, women makes them uh... discriminating Both conservative old buggers that would have fit well in the 16th century back when they could have fun burning bad Christians.
According to the Lama tradition, the Dalai Lama only gives advise and directions based on Buddhism, which is fine by me. All respect to that.

Dalai Lama. I have no respect for the pope.

I am not a religious person, so I don't make comparisons between buddhism and catholic christianism. But looking at history, the pope John Paul II played a part in ending the cold war and freeing east europe from communism, I don't think that the dalai lama has done something similar. He has the opportunity to do something for his Tibet, let's see if he is good enough to achieve anything.

maleTriker | 11 November 2007 - 3:08pm

The pope closed his eyes to sex abuse by priests, on children for decades,
The Dalai Lama wouldn't be so ignorant.

I've all the time in the world for the Dalai Lama

Although I am a catholic I still say the Dalai Lama.

maleTheMule | 28 November 2007 - 12:01pm

it would be interesting to see what Jesus would say if he came back to see how things were going and compared the two faiths, because in a way I think he would see Buddhism as kind of nearer the spirit he was trying to encourage.

I agree with you @Mule...
the Dalai Lama seems far more spiritual to me...far closer to the right path.
Religion notwithstanding..

The Dalai Lama didn't shoot British planes down during WW2. He gets my vote.

Now the real question..who would win in a fight?

malepietro della | 30 November 2007 - 6:06am

100€ on the Dalai Lama winning. He looks so harmless but I'm sure he knows some pretty cool moves.

Well, the Popes of old did advocate violence. Why should this one be any different?

The past is past, something we can’t change, yes it is historical fact Pope’s have been among the most abhorrent humans to walk the earth. Surely your not so pessimistic to believe all Popes are created in the same vain.

He does look the sort who could run up a wall if the circumstances demanded it.

malepietro della | 30 November 2007 - 10:31pm

ninja figgured how to run up walls..didnt they come from out that way somewhere..i dont think even the pope could get away with attacking the dalai lama..however the chinese did with impunity..as stalin said of the pope, how many divisions does he have???

femalevilolini | 4 December 2007 - 5:39pm

Pope Benedict XVI definetly! but i guess that dalai lama has also done good stuff

malepietro della | 5 December 2007 - 7:19am

beatifying the holocaust pope does not get my vote

maleSkyPiercer | 10 December 2007 - 12:28am

I have more respect for the Dalai Lama. But I don't appreciate that much his political role. He said recently that he will concentrate more on his spiritual tasks...
