My mom wont let me dye my hair black, and if I did behind her back she would ground me for a month. Seriosly.

Parents are really touchy about that kinda thing.
I know when I was a teen, my parents didnt want me to get my hair permed (was fashionable at the time).
And my sister had really long blonde hair, and my mum wouldnt let her cut it.

I guess you need to reason with your Mum, try and have a adult convo about it with her, and dont let her get you mad. Respect her thoughts on the subject, but try to rationalize your reasons you want to with her.
Good Luck!

And defo dont do it behind her back, that would be totally disrespectful.

Try seeing if she'll let you use temporary dye? Maybe try it out over the weekend or in vacation time. Compromise is the key here.

By the way, just looked at your profile, and you're hair is totally gorgeous anyway. So dont stress if she says no. You're already very pretty.

my mom lets me dye my hair a little, like getting highlights and stuff like that, but i think she would freak if i completely changed my hair colour to something out there Laughing

I think this is great advice. parents sometimes forget that their teen children are building identities and trying to figure out what they like, how they want to appear and so on. If you can do what Caroline was suggesting above, I think will go along way towards your mom opening up to realising this *and* perhaps even worrying less about you as you make that journey.

Definitely don't allow the conversation to fall apart--that will work against you because your mom will believe you are unable to have an adult or adult-like conversation. And suggesting the compromise is a fantastic idea--it could lead to bigger and better...good luck! Smile

Please don't dye your hair. There will come a time when you 'need' to dye your hair and there's no point putting yourself through all that crap until you have to.

i can dye my hair if i want to, i made a bet with mum, if i won it i can dye it any color i want

I surely can understand you mother ... I have a cousin who does change her hair colour every now and than and I really don't see a reason why someone would want to do that ... Out of the picture you have on your profile I can make out that you hair must be dark brownish (not 100% sure about it though) and I don't think that it need to be dyed ... I really wonder why someone in the past came up with the idea to dye hair ... Why can't you keep it in its natural colour? You don't like your hair color?

dyeing your hair is a fashion thing. it does not have anything to do with not liking your own hair colour generally. like sometimes i'll have highlights and that's it because i think it looks nice. you don't do it and don't have a desire to so you won't understand it.

My mum dyed my hair ginger for the very first time when I was 9. I was so happy with the result that I had her dye it 3 or 4 times each year but with different colours! I was really proud of my mum since she had let me do it when I was so young. I was the first student at my school to dye my hair which made me really popular..
