a sort of friend, depends how much he annoys me calls me "Tom Cruise" as a joke. But we always give each other crap... This same guy, his name is stillwell, I asked if he got his shoes at the Goodwill(a thrift store for poor people) or pic n' save(a low quality store). No one means harm its just for laughs.

But I have heard fool, fucker, and more used in this way.

if he/she is really a good friend I don't mind... I will called him/her the same thing as he/she called.

time and circumstance affect everything..take the word 'wanker' 20 years ago it was a down putting deadly insult..today in many countries it has become a form of greeting,but ONLY between good friends..i wouldnt advise using it on introduction...

I agree at least some of the words annoy me.

I used to do that a lot with a friend of mine.. we would call each other all sorts of insulting names, but we might as well use overly complimenting names.. it was always said with a smile and never had any misunderstandings.. but another person once overheard me calling my friend something insulting and I got into a huge argument with that person because she thought that I was hurting people when I spoke like that, despite I never called her anything like that. If you only do it with people who can stand that type of joke, then I think it is no harm.

Hahaha... I can't avoid it, it's a habit where I live. Part of the city "slang" or something. So we call each other real nasty names, and everybody knows that is a joke and look for a nastier retort. But everybody knows too when it's not simply a joke, and problems arise... So, we live continually in a kind of state of balance between the two poles.

It all depends on who says it and in what tone/context.

We're all pretty bizarre. Some of us are just better at hiding it, that's all.

If I knew the person well and they were a good friend of mine, it wouldn't bother me, mostlikely they would be receiving the same endearing names from me.

hmm yeah i got a friend who does that. she says something which i disagree with then she goes "f**k you" shows me the finger and then starts to laugh telling me she's just joking.... at first i was like what the heck!? now i'm so used to it it doesn't annoy me anymore.
