Have You Been Burgled?
Has anyone ever broken into your house and robbed you?
I havent had that happen to me, but I can imagine I would be devastated. Not because of what I lost, but because of my privacy being violated.

No they havent.. thankfully
No, thank God!
But I agree, Caroline, even though I would be upset to lose things, the feeling of being violated would be heavier.

When I was about 14 years old there was this new guy in school, some other classmate tricked him into making a burglery at our house and they took half of my record collection, damn it was traumatic. Wasnt too hard to figure out who was behind it since I had a taste of music that very few at the school had, got the records back pretty soon, that new guy is one of my best friends today but thats another story.

In 1993, 3 guys broke into our house & held us at gunpoint while they practically emptied our house of anything they could carry..and loaded some of the stuff that didn't fit in their car, into my stepmom's car. It was scary..but I was angry at the same time. I was asleep, my mom was getting ready for work, she had just taken the dog out, the guys were waiting for her out in the back porch. I was awoken by my bedroom door slamming open. At first, I didn't get what was happening until one of the assholes stuck a shotgun at my face. My mom was so surprised, she couldn't get to her gun (it was on the top shelf in her closet). They had us lay down spread-eagled on our faces..and had the guns on our heads, I really thought they were going to kill us since they weren't wearing anything over their faces & would be easily identifiable. I have a big mouth..when they started to load some of my movies, for some reason, all I could think of was the special edition "last of the mohicans" movie I had just bought the day before..and asked if they could leave it behind (I know, it was a DUH moment)..the guy with the shotgun shrugged & tossed it on the floor next to me. They ripped the phones off the wall-but didn't see the one in my mom's sewing room. The whole time, I was thinking of how I could prevent NOT getting shot, my mom was telling, "I know you're getting mad right now..but don't do anything stupid, steffi!!" Anyways, after about 45 mins, they told us to count to 500 before getting up..and left. I couldn't believe it..I really thought we were done for. My mom ran to the room, grabbed her 9mm, gave it to me, "Keep it pointed to the door, shoot anyone who comes in!" thinking they would change their minds & come back..and ran to her sewing room to call 911. The cops came about a minute later, as there was some cops a few blocks over finishing up a robbery call from hours before. It was a robbery spree..we were about the 4th one hit in 2 days..ALL of the other ones they had done (7 all in all), they had beat up the people, one old lady to the point of passing out. I don't know why they didn't do anything to us..to this day, I still thank God & anyone else out there listening. The thing is, we lived in a really good neighborhood, a block from the waterfront...in a beautiful, tranquil part of the city (we lived a mile from a state park/protected old world forest)..I think maybe those guys thought that an area like that, with people mostly working in Seattle, no one would be there that morning. They got caught a week later. We had identified all the guys (even the one who was waiting out in the garage-he peeked in for a little bit to see how things were going). Their other victims were able to identify them, too. It was a really harrowing experience. I don't scare easily, but I have to admit, it really got to me. I moved back to San Francisco a month later (my mom's family is there). I fervently wish that lightning won't hit twice & I never, ever, ever (or any of my loved ones) have to experience that helplessness & fear again!!

Have had the car damaged a few times, roof slashed and the badge nicked. Nothing major, I'd still like to find out who it is.
Wings, be careful about putting anything harmful on your fence without warning. They could sue for injury.
Luckily no. It would be terrible
Thankfully.......No.

Yes, someone broke in and stole a mobile phone, some cash and a GPS device. So to prevent burglaries in the future, we bought a Rottweiler and put massive spikes (which you actually can't see) on our fence.
