Keep Your Relatives Close?

  female
Mean Kitteh | 10 Dec 2007 - 11:16pm

Do you live in the same town as your rellies?
Is it important to have family nearby?

If you dont live near them, was your relationship ever close where you wanted to see a lot of each other?

keep your relatives close,,but dont employ them!!

femalecui bono | 11 December 2007 - 9:16am

At the moment my close relatives are quite far away. Of course I want them to be close, but that is not possible for the next months, so I'm kinda sad about that. Crying (very sad) And yes our relationship is still very close even through this long distance.

femaleShiver Me Timbers | 11 December 2007 - 11:34am

My relatives live all over the place but we aren't a close family so I'm not really fussed about seeing them often.

I live in the same state as my relies but i dont live near them

malemicha65 | 11 December 2007 - 12:56pm

Some of them live near but funny enough the ones that live the furthest away I see and hear the most.

femaleAki24 | 11 December 2007 - 2:36pm

Well,I live far from my relatives and parents for the reason my uni's located far from their cities...I seem to have more than 30 cousins, although I haven't met most of them...
In Japan, having a lot of relatives is no longer natural... So, my families are exceptional...

I live in the same city with my aunt and my cousin but all my other relatives are in different cities. We see each other once or twice a year. I'd like to see them more often.

Most of my relatives live in a town three hours drive away from where I live. I only have a couple of a bit more distant relatives here in my town. Many years ago I had many close relatives living in my city and of course we were closer with each other back then. Now lots of my relatives are all over the region of ex Yugoslavia, Europe and the world.
Still, it's good that most of my relatives, like I said, are three hours away from where I live and I see them about 6 times a year.

Only my grandparents live close. And that's really close Razz Like 2 min walking away from here. I like that, but I don't mind the rest of my family actually.

Except for my brother, most of my relatives live quite near, but I don't have a close relation with any of them, besides my parents.

I live in the same time as some of them, but quite far from others

femaleJ-pien | 1 January 2008 - 7:31pm

Our entire family lives in the same region, but we rarely see eachother. If we want to meet up, we always have to schedule weeks in advance, because everyone's so busy. So for me, it doesn't really matter if my family lives next door or on the other side of the country..
I myself study in Switzerland (my parents live in the Netherlands), but I fly home every other weekend, that's quite enough for me Smile

malekoruk | 9 January 2008 - 11:59pm

i live my relatives same buildnings.i love all of them

femalestallegtite | 13 January 2008 - 12:58pm

I used to live with my Mother until I was nearly 24 years old. Unfortunately, we used to clash and have a lot of arguments.
Then, I jetted off to Australia because my then-husband was Australian. I have one relative here now...my son. There are no others. The nearest other relative is a second cousin in Indonesia. I get a nice warm fuzzy feeling when I think he is just a stone's throw across the sea. Ha!

I think that I do miss my English relatives. When you have a network of rels you know that they will, hopefully, help you out in an emergency situation. But, I have no security like that now. I am here on my own basically because my son leads his own life and I would never want to rely on him to bale me out of some difficulty.

malelongload | 13 January 2008 - 3:27pm

I would love to see them all daily if that were possible

femaleidieh | 18 January 2008 - 2:07pm

I'm really close with my family and hate the fact that we don't live in the same city. My little sister lives the closest to me, about two hours drive and we see each other about once a month. My parents and big sister live on the other side of the country and we meet every two or three months. I'd love to see them more often. What makes me especially sad is that my kids don't have the opportunity to spend more time with their grand parents.
Of my aunts and uncles and cousins I only keep in touch with my dad's sister's family - I see them a couple of times a year and keep in contact with my two cousins on Facebook. The rest of my cousins I haven't seen in 10 years and don't really care to either.

i'd say about 50% of my family lives in the same city as me, another 25% live in the same province, 12.5% live in the same country and then the rest live in other countries.
but the family and relatives i like are all close by.

femalestar_princess | 20 January 2008 - 5:24pm

half of them live close by, either the same town or a little farther away. the other half live in philippines or japan or in a few other places. the ones close by, we see them regularly. the ones farther away, we'll do our best to see each other a few times a year, and we talk on the phone or email or chat all the time so we're always in touch.

My relatives are pretty close by. I think it's quite important to have your relatives nearby since they can provide assistance anytime. However, it is sometimes annoying to have people checking on you every single moment.

I have moved out and lived in a different town while my father, uncles are all living quite close together.
Sometimes, I feel like I want to have lots of relatives but sometimes I just want to shove them into a bag and throw it into a sea Devil laugh
That is quite a contrary feeling. I want to live near them and I want to just go far away from them, the farther the better for they are quite annoying sometimes!

Well, i live in the same house as my brother. One of my sisters lives just a few miles away and we hardly ever see her. This is fine with me. The other sister lives hundreds of miles away and we probably see more of her. I'd like to see more of her and my nephews. We're close as a family really, but not that close at the moment with that first sister i mentioned. Uncles and aunts and all that live close by, and i'm fine with the level of contact we have.
