A very interesting read thank you! I am not too hot on the ins and outs of hinduism, so I can only presume that what is written is truth and not what could be read in to the religion.
BUT, if this is the case, how come it is not more common knoweldge. And why do Hindu's call it their religion?

I have always found religion to be a very personal thing so I guess that if you're a Hindu then you'll always see it as your religion - whether or not something got lost in translation a long time ago - it's all just perception at the end of the day isn't it?

Somewhat true. Hindusim is sometimes just as hard to classify as Buddhism is. I was pretty surprised when I found out there was a whole explicitly atheistic school of thought inside Hinduism, actually more than one. The Cārvāka school seems to be pretty interesting, although I still haven't had enough time to study the topic properly.

well... i'm as well new to this kind of view Very happy
but... i think it makes sense!

the name Hindu comes from the river Indus which now flows in Pakistan...
even long ago, we had all kinds of people living in the lands of Indus... infact, history proves that Indus Valley civilization was the most adcanced of all civilizations in the world... though it is dated as the second oldest, after the mesaputomian... but... still there are many theories about the fact that the civilization existed even in 7000BC!!

and... if you consider the recent past (15th 16th centuries Very happy), u would see all kinds of people living in India... the mughals, who were islamic, the original people, who we now call hindus, buddhists, jains, parsis and even christians! and everyone lived in harmony! there was no quarrel among the people!

i need to do lot more research and reading on this topic, before i can say anything concrete! Smile
