University/College Degrees; Your choice?
Did you study the subject that interested you the most? or the subject that would most likely get you a job at the end of it?
I got a BEng in Mechanical Engineering mainly because I wanted something practical, not because I enjoyed it (plus the Navy paid!) but now I'm about to go back to University to study Law because it interests me as much as it's a good career too!

I'm studying something that interests me a lot (bioinformatics) perhaps it's even the subject that interests me most (although there're some other candidates as well). What I know is that there's no other subject which has a better combination of
- my talent in the field
- my interest in it
- future prospects
The first one is quite important as well. I would have also been interested in studying languages, but I realize, that I don't have much talent for it.

I did business administration, but more because it had good job opportunities than because I had my heart there. I haven't worked in that field for years by now, and I don't think I will ever return there.

Yes, I studied what I like and interested. I've just graduated and got a B.A. in History. It's quite hard to get a job about history in my country because it's not interesting for most people. Now I'm searching for a job and trying to get a job in Department of Fine Arts.

I do Communication and Multimedia Design mostly cuz it has a lot to do with computers, advertising and thinking of new innovating applications and websites for people. It interests me and they are sure looking for people with computer and design skills ^^

I was supposed to become a translator. But now I'm slowly starting to realise that's probably not the thing I really want to spend my life doing, however fun it might be (at times.)
However, languages are still my great love.

I studied what I was most interested in. I didn't know what I wanted to do when I finished Uni

I'll complete my own degree in about a year's time. It's a BScEcon by distance learning in Information & Library Studies. I'm doing it late in life (I started in 2004) because librarianship has always interested me, although a lot of people wrongly and narrow-mindedly think it's just boring people stamping boring books. There is other work for information professionals besides that, such as developing internet/intranet sites and knowledge management.
This is my first degree. I'm not sure if I'll want to do a second one in the future.

I study what I really like
Luckily
I was studying what i liked at university. BA in Politics and International Relations.
If I wanted to get a well-paid job, I could have studied Accounting or economcs at uni..
Im studying management at the moment, cos it gives me various options for my carrier.
A bit of both.
i'm doing medicine, just because i like sciences and interacting with people. i couldnt think of anything that includes those two than being a doctor.

I was a wimp!i did economics in cluding 2 units in law because the united parents and grandparents wanted it...my masters i did abroad thankfully in the company of lots of broads...It wasn't until much later, when i was back home where i belong that i did engineering..I wont call it anything in particular but when i asked my elder son what he wants to read at uni he said electronics..I cant describe the feeling i had when i kissed him and said son!!Papas got your back! over here uni costs money ,not for him he has a special def dept scholarshipbut the others ?including son in law (the other one still has 3.5 years to go in the military)I said i'll pay for it PROVIDED you study what YOU want..No wimps now that i am running the show...
I'm studying European Studies (a pre-law course), which interests me the most. Plus, it is also something practical since it not only deals with International Relations but also deals with Business. ![]()

my real interest has always been in science but i guess thats not really the right one for me considering how i suck so bad in it which is y i totally hate chemistry lol
