Do you have any music that helps you to concentrate and be productive?

One that worked for me at uni, but I didn't listen to in while, was Queen.

many kinds of songs, depending on what i feel like. i could listen to some japanese pop, some gospel, some classical, some bollywood, and a few others. and it has to be certain songs that are not too good. if they're too good, i might focus on the music instead of what i'm doing.

No, not really, except my favourite bands that inspire me to play guitar. Other creative/productive work though....no. I'll just put on what i feel like listening to. Queen is great though. A song for any occasion/mood/feeling.

maybe I have some favourites, but there's nothing where you can "rely" on 100% when it comes to creativity/inspiration. in the end, creativity comes from within.and it depends on how I feel & my mood...
there are only some thingsthat can '"support" my mood: when I work/draw/so artwork,I often prefer something calm,"flowing" (not too hectic or too many rhythm changes/breaks or such) like various electronic/intrumental music; drum n bass, techno, trip hop, ambient etc..sometimes jazz,blues,folky/lofi-stuff
for finding ideas in general/sketching/brainstroming (so,in the beginning usually) its often punk/hardcore/independent-bands...dont know why,but maybe its the words/energy & speed rushing through my head.my "favourite/classics records" you can say : fugazi, social distortion, the smiths, hot water music, atthe drive in, sonic youth, joy division,

oh,and in a way find myself playing some old stuff like Jimi Hendrix or the Who.altough I dont listen to them a lot usually. and recently its (again) really a lot by The Smiths/Morrissey, Paul Weller and Joey Strummer Wink
so you see,in the end it can be almost everything. Smile

Mika is something that has really helped me clear my mind in the last few weeks or months, with these songs (from the album) in particular: Any other world, happy endings, my interpretation, and relax (take it easy).

maleJanus_ | 29 January 2008 - 10:50pm

I don't have any that do help me, only some things that work contra-productive. When I need to concentrate, I can't hear really good or really bad music, and no music that is new to me either. For the rest, anything goes.

Of course my favorite music and classic music, I don't know why and I can't explain, it is just very inspiring Very happy

malemaranello | 1 February 2008 - 12:15am

Moonlight Sonata never fails. Beethoven's music has, in the past, been scientifically proven to be the most relaxing pieces of music for concentration and inspiration.

How could I EVER forget Enya? She has the most soothing, calmest voice in the world. One you find it completley impossible NOT to relax to. Some of her songs move me to tears though sometimes but I find it clears a lot of the negative stuff this way so it's not a bad thing.

femalebob_is_a_saint | 4 February 2008 - 9:52pm

classical!

none, I think Silence is golden. My children sometimes tease me when I am trying to concentrate with this song"Don't Worry be Happy" by Bobby Mcferrin, grrr and then my creative juices really start flowing, with them out the door..
