two children die on yellow quill reserve
So I'm guessing most people have no clue where yellow quill is, but is a reserve in south saskatchewan but here is the jist of what happened.
Police say they believe the girls' father, Christopher Pauchay, 25, left his home with the children in the wee hours of Tuesday morning when wind chills were in the -50C range. He managed to make it to a neighbour's house suffering from frostbite and hypothermia. The two girls were found in the field wearing only T-shirts and diapers. Family members say Pauchay was drinking that night. The reserve tried to implement a dry reserve meaning no alcohol but that didn't work, the chief is at odds with the other band council members and now they're made at him for bringing to light the issues of the reserve.
The RCMP are considering laying charges against the father of the two little girls who died, but haven't really said much more than that. The Premier says that more help needs to go to the reserve, but because its a reserve its a Federal government issue.
So my question is this, who should be responsible for the reserve?, because its clear they're not able to make it work themselve - they were put in third party management after they basically went bankrupt in 1999. Should they charge the father? I mean he is responsible he's the one who brought them outside in just a t-shirt and diapers when it was minus 50.

I think, the father had the response to care about the children, he is not allowed to drink, when he have the response! So I think they should caught him, he is guilty!
I can't imagine him not being charged with manslaughter. I have beem amazed at a number of people blaming other things ..... I can't imagine the grief of this dad... But, he still has to be charged. Such a sad sad story

it really is sad the number of things they are trying to blame, alcohol, the reserve fighting, residential school etc etc etc ... i mean someone has to take responsibility for it but instead they are just looking to blame anything other then the father who drunkenly took his two children out. sick really
You got it girl. Anyone who takes a life where alcohol is a contributing factor, should pay the price. Its the same thing if he was behind the wheel and ran them down. Everyone should be held accountable for what they willingly put in their mouth. Here is two little girls totally dependant on their dad to take care of them and he is responsible for their care. He was coherent enough to drag himself to safety, why not his children. I have two and I would risk life and limb to save them first. I can't imagine the abandoned feeling and suffering these little girls went through. I am certainly not going to try to imagine the feelings the father is having now. He made his decision when he put the bottle to his lips..

Even though the father has to deal with what he has done for the rest of his life, the fact remains, he was responsible for the death of those 2 poor children, and should pay the penelty that the law has put down. I don't think there should be too many people getting involved here though, the law and that is all. In Ontario, the Six Nations Reserve is already blocked by the OPP because of the building of new homes on their land. Now everybody is involved, its a mess, you have the townspeople fighting with them, television crews getting into scuffles with them. No, they want their land, and they don't like outside interferences. I did see this report on tv that Jen is talking about, and it broke my heart to watch it.
