@Turkey... I just said that Chasidim are often inbreed, that is pure race. i could name some other groups that have that, basically the once that the Nazis wanted to extinguish. As for Flemish (my 'race') we are a mix of pre-Celtic, Celtic (Belgian) and Germanic groups, mixed with some Roman blood here and there, and the odd Viking-, Hun-, or Spanish rapist. Thereby bits of Canadian gene-pool (WW2) and a bunch of immigrant genes. (jewish, Moroccon, Turkish, Italian, Congolese, Chinese, Dutch, French, Spanish, Polish...) It's healty, and leads to evolution to have exchange with other gene-pools. Maybe you didn't get enough of that.

Pietro, of course I know Bismarck, but I can't enumerate everybody from our history who have made good things. I would put Bismarck on an equal footing as Stresemann.

I think this topic has different meanings to different generations.

Historically, Britain's national heroes would be people such as Churchill, Boudica and St George.

However, due to peoples change in morals/ethics or whichever way you put it, if you did a survey today to see which person was Britain's national hero it would probably come out as David Beckham.

Spain had many heroes... from the guys in Numancia who lived for a long time under a Roman siege till the Republicans that took exile after loosing the war and fought in WW2... and were the first allied to enter Paris under the orders of Leclerc.

Some Spanish heroes could be the following ones: Viriathus, Traianus (Roman Emperor from Spain), Tarik (first muslim to step on Spain in Gibraltar... Gib al Tarik... Tarik's Rock), Almanzor (muslim ruler), Alfonso X, El Cid Campeador (there's an American movie about him), Catholic Monarchs, Cristopher Columbus (although he was not actually Spanish), Cabeza de Vaca (first explorer in North America), Elcano (first ones to finish the first travel around the world after Magallanes death), Cortés and Pizarro (alghough I hate them), Charles I, Philip II, El Empecinado (a rebel who fought on his own against the French Invasion)...
