This might fit better in another channel, feel free to move.

Is there any one particular teacher that sticks out in your memory that you think really influenced you in any way, or perhaps one that you really disliked?

Mine was my grade 10 geography teacher. Mr Weins....grrrrrrrr....just say we never clicked. (Skipped many of his classes Very happy )
Also never really cared for my grade school principal. A really scarey nun...that never smiled, her face would probably crack.. Sad

The teacher that has inspired me more than anyone I know was Jean from college who I recently found out has been made redundant. She's amazing and added greatly to my passion of British Wildlife.

Several teacher I will never forget.
First there was Mr. Munnik, my 2 grade teacher, who made going to school fun, always in for a joke.

After that, in 6th grade there was mr. Van Lingen, a creep with a passion for the flute. Later I heard that he was fired for indecent behaviour.

In high school there was my English teacher Mr. Dekker. He still has my respect for standing for his (religious) beliefs, no matter what other people said about it.

And last, Mr. Verhoeven, my physics teacher. He was the only one who saw right through me. He thought me the most important lesson in my life, even if it wasn't scientific or pedagogically correct! Very happy

Oh yes! In third grade I had a teacher who made us write the English dictionary when we misbehaved, and once she even put me, the innocent and sweet and shy me, out into the hallway!!! But I loved her. Smile We had pet fish that we all made turns feeding and a tree we nursed back to health, and a small library corner that I had to be pried from when it was time to go do other stuff. We made soup from a recipe in a story we read (each kid brought in an ingredient) and on warm days (warm to us) we spread a blanket outside and did the lesson there. I still remember one girl who used to sometimes help herself to other kids' snacks like the way teachers sometimes do (and are adored for it), and another girl complaining about her thinking she can be as loved as our teacher was.

The next year I had another Italian, a meanie one, and maybe my lovely teacher was a good prep for not wilting under that one's gase, because she was stern and although she meant well for us I'm sure, she was often too intimidating to be appreciated. I also made it to the hall from her class, but in that case I cursed and seethed and raged inside and hated her with every ounce of venom in my marrow. Ufff!!!!!

Later an Irish teacher who strongly encouraged me in writing and an American who introduced me to Willa Cather--the author of my favorite short story ever ("Paul's Case"). And Miss Raad, who helped me get through not only her maths but that of a teacher (in the next year) whose geometry class I was failing because I had no effing clue what was going on, and he couldn't have cared less.

And Mr. Davies, who helped me get through biology and actually like it. Very happy

I'm so grateful for these teachers (not the meanie one Razz ) because in many instances my school experience was not good and even though I love learning now, i didn't love it then and did very poorly in school. Having had them helped me hang on.

My Physics teacher. He's very terrifying, but very good at connecting Physics to real life (and even to Catholicism). Laughing

There are lots of teachers I remember. Let me pic a horrible and a wonderful one.
The horrible one was Mr. Fischle, my teacher in 2nd and 3rd class in primary school. He used to beat us with a stick (it was already illegal at those times) and the less your family's social standard was the more punishment for nothing he gave. I was so frustrated that I decided to become a techer myself so that at least in the place I hold here is no beating (to be honest, I became a teacher later, but the childish reasons were forgotten then).
The wonderful one was Mr. Sihler at the 11th class in grammar school. He taught biology and chemistry. He was a real person with open mind and absolutly lacking of prejudice, full of brillant ideas and was supporting us extensivly in our progress. But most of all, he was human.
While writing this many other wondeful teachers come into my mind. I was a lucky student.

well, there are a lot of teachers in my life, not only in school, in life too....Every person i meet i believe is special and teaches me and changes my life, one for a bit, anothers greatly.

And it`s true that teachers are very important! Our wish to learn a subject depends directly from our teacher! From Uni i can remember a great example-my teacher of Painting-she was so exciting about her subject and was so carried away by painting, admired so much by every stroke, by every light spot, she described how the objects are beautiful now and in this situation, that she made me love this object very very much forever! She taught me to see the beauty in simplicity and where we usually don`t see it Wink
