Becoming an artist

vorrei chiedere a qualcuno di voi se mi sa consigliare un bel libro (romanzo o biografia) che parli del diventare un'artista, del percorso entusiasmante e difficile fatto da un uomo o una donna per diventare un pittore, o comunque qualcuno nell'ambito delle arti visive.

@YuriKo: sono un'avida lettrice, e sicuramente scavando nei meandri dei miei ricordi mi verranno in mente altri libri, per ora il primo è "L'artista e la sua realtà" di Mark Rothko, il famosissimo artista a cavallo fra astrattismo, espressionismo e surrealismo. Mi è piaciuto molto perchè non è la solita biografia, quanto piuttosto una raccolta postuma di suoi manoscritti, è il pensiero stesso dell'artista che ti entra dentro...poi ovviamente a me ha colpito particolarmente perchè sono un'appassionata di queste correnti artistiche, spero possa piacere anche a te Lo trovi facilmente su Internet, io l'ho comprato qualche mese fa su IBS.

@YuriKo Di biografie di artisti ne puoi trovare tante, e di tutte le epoche, italiani e stranieri, basti pensare alle "Vite" di Giorgio Vasari, dedicate agli artisti del Rinascimento, che sono diventate quasi un classico della letteratura italiana. Se ti interessa, posso segnalare un libro che io ho trovato molto interessante su Leonardo da Vinci, scritto da Frank Zollner, in cui é analizzata approfonditamente anche la sua attività di artista.

Grazie per le risposte (interessante quella su Rothko). Ciò che cerco deve riguardare soprattutto tempi recenti, ed avere un punto di vista "interno" alla vicenda e alla personalità dell'artista. Motivo per cui ad esempio le Vite del Vasari che già conosco, non fanno proprio al mio caso. Nemmeno una biografia su Leonardo mi interessa.
Comunque apprezzo, e se vi viene in mente qualcos'altro postate.
