Prolonging the inevidable

If you were told that you had a terminal illness and if you could have surgery, it might prolong your life another year at the most, would you opt for the knife or refuse treatment? Another year could give you more time with your family and get prepared, or would you feel it would only prolong your suffering?

I would choose the surgery. One more year is better than nothing.

Refuse treatment....sooner or later will be dead so why bother? Given another year, so what? Makes life even more miserable, Isn't it?

I think you have to be this person to know the answer. What you now believe may not be the same if you are that terminal person.

Thank you conservative Bush/McCain Republicans for global warming, the use of food (corn ethanol) in the gas tanks of SUV's causing famine all over the world. resulting in slow death for all life on earth. Thank you for urban sprawl, the non-stop building of new homes that no one wants, and the destruction of all farmland to build the new homes with illegal labor from south of the border that you won't protect. Thank you for trying to destroy Social Security and medical care for all Americans, great bunch of guys, oh did I mention the non stop wars to support conservative republican arms and ammunition manufactures?

I don't know what I would choose, because I already know that I would die soon and don't want to suffer any longer. But on the other hand there is the family ... that's hard to say.

I'd prefer the surgery, if there's life there's hope, it might appear a new drug or scientists might discover sth new to prolong your life!!

That would depend on what sort of illness it was.........if the surgery gave me more time with an able body, then I think I'd opt for the knife.

malemicha65 | 30 March 2008 - 9:32am

It would depend on how I would feel in the mean time.

maleJanus_ | 30 March 2008 - 10:25pm

I'd refuse treatment. It would just give you more time to suffer, at least in your mind, knowing that you will die soon.
