Gifts for Germans

I will be visiting Germany in May to see some german friends that I have not seen in 40 years. I would like to bring them a unique gift from America. Can anyone give me suggestions as to what German people would like most from America? It would have to be small to fit on the airplane. What types of gifts do german people like from America?

Hi Ananas,
I'm from Germany. I can remember that when I was a child my neighbors brought me several small things from their America trip. What I liked most were for example, some packages of Kool-Aid, not because I liked the taste of it but the colors were beautiful. What I wanna say by that is, that I think people here would love things which are typical for America and can't be bought in every shop in Germany, too. I would go with eatable or drinkable stuff.
(But don't bring them American chocolate! Better take some German chocolate with you, when you're leaving again! Wink )

Oh maybe you can bring them some packages of "pancake-powder-stuff" and Aunt Jemima Sirup. We always loved to make pancakes in our family, but it never tasted as good as with these Aunt Jemima finished product Very happy

Hi,
pherhaps you can bring them some typical things from your home city.
Or some typical American drinks would be well I think.
