Is "healthy nutrition" a new kind of religion?

I am reading a book about facts & fictions of a healthy nutrition. There the writers say:

That its not healthy to loose weight at all for your cardiovascular system. The "healthiest" BMI is around 26.

That it doesn't matter if you eat much meat (for Vitamines).

That it is not very healthy to eat raw things (fruits/vegetables).

etc.

The Writer is Udo Pollmer. He summarizes this new "religion" as follows: If you don't obey all the healthy food rules you will die from your malnutrition. If you obey all the healthy food rules you will die from your right nutrition. Only if you stop to eat at all you can be sure that you will not die from your nutrition....

What do you think about it?

Well, I think there are some nutrition facts that can not be denied. Red meats in excess are dangerous because of the cholesterol and related stuff. Raw things are healthy because of vitamins, fiber, etc.
So, if that Udo Pollmer is trying to sustain that all of that is bulls**t, I guess he does not know very much about the subject. So you're wasting your time reading him.
But, on the other hand, I'm a practicer of Yoga discipline and I'm surrounded by healthfood freaks that take it as some kind of religion indeed. They make me laugh a lot with their nonsense. I mean, I try to have a healthy, balanced diet, but I would not make a dogma of it.

totally agree. Healthy eating is a good way of life to maintain a excellent physical well being. I love Yoga as well for peace of mind and relaxation. As for a religion, I don't think so unless people want to worship a veggie...go to it.

not a religion : a question of survival !!! crazy things to think that eat natural food like our parents becoming a "luxe" !

Well i think some of it is rubbish, (and they won't stop me eating fresh fruit!) but they have a point; i know what they're saying with that last quote "Only if you stop to eat at all you can be sure that you will not die from your nutrition". One week, something is said to be good for you. The next, it's bad and can give you cancer, and so on. Personally, i don't follow many 'rules' of nutrition. I'm not particularly healthy though, so i'm no good example of how to do things.
