sharp comparison but a bit pessimistic 
why don`t imagine a life as a spiral stair? Sometimes there is no railing and it`s hard to go up, sometimes steps are too slippery and you don`t want to go up, but with every coil you are higher and higher and also you know that there will be many stories you cross and meet another stairs Never know what will be on the next storey, but sure-very important things for you!!!!that`s exciting!

I would say, life is like a rollercoaster: thrilling, scary, bumpy ride but when it is done we would like to get in line for the next ride
..I guess, I am too americanized...
