There might be a bigger chance for your post not to get deleted if you wrote English properly. No, expressions like "ae" and "wae" aren't proper English. Most people here don't speak English as their mother tongue, and for many of them your text might be very hard to read.

Well, you seemed to be wondering why your posts get deleted. Sure you may write the way you want but don't complain if someone always deletes your posts.

Hi Malky
no problem.. they should hear the irish after a few drinks..lol Smile

maleJanus_ | 17 April 2008 - 1:39pm

Not every mod will accept a dialect as English, that's probably why your posts are being deleted. And Outi is right, especially for non-native English speakers it's hard to understand, if at all.

And for the impressed member, I get 3 such messages a day. If one disappears, it's because that user was reported as a scammer.

Outi has a point about the way you write and there's no need for smart remarks back to her. Maybe your posts aren't' being deleted just moved as you seem to post in random channels.

Topic moved - given reason:

Don't know really where to put this but I don't think it belongs in General.

What?

Why feel the need to force your nationality onto every one else when english is considered the universal language?

Appreciate it enough to treat it with some dignity.

there are a lot of people on here who for one reason or another cannot be understood.. be it poor english, bad spelling or they use wrong terminology when expressing themselves
However I feel that everyone on here has a right to express what they feel.. that is what these channels are for... right ?????

femaleserenity_1 | 18 April 2008 - 9:31pm

I think maybe its just that people do not understand what you are saying .... your writing is quite hard to understand ... especially for non-english speaking people Smile

I see it like this..its acceptable for non europeans not to have a great command of the English language..yet you have some one from Great Britain intentionally writing in an archaic style...

Actually Ed, you got it right...

But, hey...I think it's kinda cute to a degree...but have to admit that it must be extremely hard for non english speaking people to be able to follow..
So it's not about discrimination...
me, I'm straight from the Campbell bloodline..love the Scots..
but isn't it nice when people actually understand the words that are coming out of your mouth..
or in this case..
the computer?

Actually I find it quite interesting, it's like a wee puzzle, skip every second or third word and you pretty well have the giest of it...no problems here. Smile

We have more and more individuals mangling the english language as they see fit and nobody gives a toss, so why this wee scot is having his efforts frowned upon is a tale worth bottling and throwing into the ocean... perhaps a shipwreck survivor on a deserted island might find it... He could do with a bit of a laugh to take his mind of his predicament.

I don't think anyone is frowning on his efforts so much as telling him not to complain when his topics are deleted when people can't comprehend them. If he wants them to be understood by a wider audience then he needs to write in a common language. I myself grew up hearing the Scots tongue (albeit often in mixture with another language), but I have faced reality by realising it's not a universally understood one. And Caroline is right: Scots don't write this way--unless they're Rabbie Burns.

And by the way, are you comparing Scots to the mangling of English that other people do? Grrrr (shuffling my feet)...
