Rock bands
Hi! I am Giovanni from Italy.. I am not very much into music, but I noted that the best metal bands are Finnish...(Nightwish, Him, etc) why? My brother told me that since in Finland the winter is very long and boring, many peoples spent lot of time inside the home playing instruments.. is it true?

I think thats pretty much a cliche.
not to mention that Nightwish & Him are not metal.they're just horrible.

well if you consider him metal? thenw e have a problem:)
but nightwish is simply metal.
i'd add sweden to your list too.. you know, opeth, evergrey, amon amarth, pain of salvation, soilwork, inflames....

Nightwish play interesting power metal, they 're very popular, but not the best (IMHO)...
Probably, who don't play any instrument, that people play ice-hockey

To Mr. Giovani... the answer to your question is probably yes. Grunge Metal originated from a very gloomy place in the N.W. US. Seattle is about 75% bad weather. The bands had alot of time to develop their skills by being isolated. They became very successful & still are quite so. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grunge_metal Just for the record.

Yes, in my opinion he's right, because Tarja (ex-Nightwish) said almost the same thing (+people get a bit depressed, and they're moody too). And she is Finnish, so she must know it.
