Basically i tell you im not quite sure because i've actually met people from MF. Some of them were cool, others...hmmm...i thought i knew them...

Nothing weird. Very common thing. It's not a pm but an automatic message when someone visiting your profile click on "add as friend" ! I don't know yet who're the dumbest ?

Who have the wrong interpretation of this action : The people sending those friend invites to strangers or the ones complaining about them.

I've been on several social networks : MySpace, Perfspot and those friend invites to people you don't know
are very common. People use this feature when they like a profile, it's some kind of bookmarking users...
Many MF users assimilate a friend list to a contact list. It usually precedes a future conversation...A way like another to start a discussion. A sign of good intentions if you want.

We shouldn't give it more importance than it really deserves...Many users are not in my friend list but I consider them as true friends. The same for some of persons figuring on my friend list : They're there but I don't consider them as friends. This list means nothing to me.

I've received a couple of ones. Sometimes I chose to accept their invite just to see what would happen :
They don't show themselves again ! It means one thing : They are not really interested in you, they have simply liked your profile, your picture...etc

But tell me : Why do you feel the necessity of making a topic about this issue ? You're not special you know. Thousands of users are receiving those kind of messages if everyone makes a topic every time he receives weird messages it won't end !

The problem isn't in the weird messages, the real problem is the sick extra sensitivity of the feminine gent on this website ! Those messages won't KILL you ! IGNORE them and move around !

I've seen everything on this website : users changing their gender icon to avoid perverts, unwelcoming profiles...When sensitivity reaches those levels we consider it as a mental disorder called 'Hypermania' !

OK, I admit, when I first made my profile I was like, "Whaaaaa?" But then I instinctivley learnt to hit the magic delete. It's like a hidden trapdoor when paired with the "ignore user" button. I also confess I didn't need to go get a degree in rocket science to do it.

I agree to rosbief. For me it seems to be very unfriendly to send this kind of automatic mail to a complete stranger. It does not need that much time to write a few lines to present oneself to the other person. It shows that one is really interested in the asked person.

Listen I agree that not all blokes are jerk-offs, but the problem is that even 1% of the population is a lot of jerks. And the reality is that women have a diferent, er, reality than men. The fact is you men types do not endure what women do when it come to come ons (and even worse, but I won't mention it now...I'm trying to keep this light weight). Sometimes they are harmless, sometimes not, but most of the time women simply don't want to deal with them. So if they change their posted sex to "M," who the eff cares? It keeps away the automatons who search out female profiles and the person doesn't have to go to the bother to delete and etc. It's really a matter of practicality, not hyper mania or whatever that mysogonist-trying-to-be labelled it.

Rosbief, I have to admit, though, that this topic *has* come up a few times. Erm, a few dozen times. The finger wagging I am doing has nothing to do with the topic's topic, but rather the repetition.
