i think celine has a lovely voice (although i think enya can out do her anyday)...
she has earned her place and used her voice to get to where she is! i like many of her songs! i would think she has made canada proud?? but since i'm not canadian, i dont know how you feel! but i like her over all

You do have the choice to listen to something else you know. Celine Dion does not represent the whole of the Canadian music industry. If you don't like her voice simply don't listen. I personally like her voice but I know and appreciate that not everyone does. There's no in between with Celine Dion. You either like her voice or you don't.

Personally I don't think you can talk until you can get a record deal and be as successful than she has... I think it's pretty obvious she's not a bad singer if she has that many fans.
I could think of hundreds of artists I don't personally like but I would never go as far as to say they suck, because I could only dream of being as good as they are at what they do.

I think really people need to take more notice of the old saying "If you've got nothing nice to say then say nothing at all"

Alright, I see people are not familiar with the old school Céline bashing threads. Of course she worked hard and all that. I'm mostly annoyed by the over-mediatization of the character. It could be different in the ROC, but in Québec she can't fart without talking about it to the newspaper. It's not as bad now as it was 7-8 years ago though

Jonjon they just don't understand the pain she inflicts upon Canadians, her hype her glory her never ending theme song as the titantic sank ... *sigh* she is the spawn of something evil and one day, some day soon she'll give up her canadian citizenship if she hasn't already and stay in las vegas doing her one show nightly if she's still doing that and we'll no longer be bothered because she'll be hated by all canadians for becoming an american ... you know how we like to hate on people for doing that ... and the world will be set right.

Although when I think of her I remember the most her silly comments after that hurricane in New Orleans. She just about blew a gasket getting all out of breath and hyperventilating over her inability to defend people's right to steal. And that's pretty unfortunate (that I recall this most), considering she donated 1M$ to relief efforts. I'd prefer to recall her generosity, but instead what sticks out is her enabler status.

I think she has a nice voice, but I also agree that she is not the only Canadian musician that has a voice. Maybe older but Ann Murray has a great voice as well and has been around quite a while, I mean the list goes on, male vocalists, bands all Canadians, but they just don't have the media hype that Celine does!
