What would you do if one of your collegues was coming into work (regularly) intoxicated or a wee bit higher than gravity allows them and was effecting their judgement/preformance in their work...Would you report them, talk to them, let it ride and wait for them to screw up?

If that would happen, I wouldn't do anything. You go to work to actually work and fulfill your job, the way others behave, as well as the way they fulfill their job is none of my businesses as long as I do my job properly.

If it would effect my work directly I would definitely report him.

maleslakker | 28 April 2008 - 9:26am

Id definitely let it ride and wait for them to screw up, possibly worsen it up a bit. I love watching shit go down the drain, hopefully as chaotic as possible. Eating popcorn Bye bye

As long as it wouldn't create dangerous situations, I'd just enjoy the show.

Talk to him/her. I would let the person know that I am aware that there is a problem and if the person would continue not to pull his/her weight, I would have to report for the sake of everybody involved.

Make a suggestion to do something about it.
Furthermore it's up to the boss.
The company where I work has a policy on this.
You can get fired...

Johsky, i am with you 100%..A chain is only as strong as its weakest link..

I would try to help him/her as best as I could, to get back on track. Even if I didn't like that person.

Lock them in the stock room cupboard to sober up.

It entirely depends on the person, because not everyone can or would like to talk about problems. That doesn't mean that I would report the person. There you have to be very sensitive, because in all probability I might don't know the person in private. Therefore you should hold back a little and perhaps give only small tip how their behaviour could have influence or effect on their work.

Unfortunately I only made experiences with people who really have problems, but who would never show any slight indication and then unexpectedly find out what they have done or tried and I was completely surprised, because I haven't expected it after all.
