Traveling to Ukraine soon! Looking for interesting/helpful people in Kiev!!
Hey! I'm hoping to take a trip to Ukraine at the end of May! Having a hard time trying to find helpful travel agencies to book some sort of tour. I really want to go to Chernobyl but I am also interested in seeing Kiev and other nearby towns, also different types of art over there such as ceramics. If you have any helpful information that would be great!! Thanks!
Angie

I'm planning a trip there too, not to Chernobil though. There seems to be a great museum on Chernobil inKiew, you can take an organised bus trip from Kiew too. Some nearby ghost town, and close to the reactor. But I doubt there's a lot to see there.
See 'Kiev' on wikipedia, there's some links. But info on tourism in Ukraine is scarce. Also try the travel books: Bradt, the Rough Guide...

Yes I know about the Chernobyl museum and for sure want to go there too. I have found numerous places that offer tours to Chernobyl but I was hoping to find one that was included in a tour package.. *gasp* I can't belive you said there isn't much to see there.. there is TONS to see there and how nature is taking over. I think it something that everyone should see and be aware of!
I also have many travel books already about Ukraine, but the editions are from 2007 and most of those links don't work now, or the sites haven't been updated since 2007. I did find the almost perfect art tour from the NewLogic website but it too seems to be abandond. ![]()

Are you also looking to visit Prypiat too by any chance?

Yes! Usually when Chernobyl is mentioned Pripyat is always included too.
Well, don't know what you need, but booking a flight should be no problem. And I always advise 'couchsurfing.com' where people offer free stay, guidance, info and what not. The Kiev people seem to be quite active, so you may check there. Also 'hospitalityclub.org'.
