Unfair Tropic Blocking In Here…!!!

fly-in-the-space | 2 May 2008 - 2:47am

I have create a tropic in here forum about “what do u think about Iraqi war?”, when I log yesterday I saw it has blocked by the channel moderator. (deng) He has given reason there why he blocked. I agree with his given reason. But I have some questions,

1.) I didn’t get any message from deng that tropic has blocked, I personally think it’s good if moderators inform to author of tropic about it. ( I don’t know mailfriends mod rules that they have or not responsibility to inform about blocking of a tropic to author.)
2.) If some users are using ‘naughty naughty’ words why not warn to them? Or not removing their comments?

If one or two use naughty words why blocking whole tropic, it’s totally unfair.

Talking About Iraqi’s Situation Is Ban In This Channel…? I Saw Another Tropic Which Relating To Iraq Has Blocked.

I think you guys are aiming your criticism at the wrong person. These topics get closed because people such as hasta la vista, who could just as easily go play backgammon all day, instead makes it hi slife's mission to spread vitriolic hatred.

Certainly there are others who argue with him, but I personally think they are less of a problem because hasta almost always is the one instigating it all, pouncing like a vulture as he does, on any topic that has any remote relation to the objects of his hatred and unproductivity. Wait, I'm wrong. He can turn a discussion on how to properly water a plant into one about how corrupt and hateful are Americans and Jews.

Sooooo...if you want your topics to stopped being shut down, it's in your interest to have a discussion with hasta instead of tolerating him as so many do.

Cmon folks, back to topic...The topic was locked, this means it was posted and eventually decended into personal insults,so it was put to bed.
Blocking a topic:Topic by pietro>>>>How EXACTLY to build a fertiliser bomb powerful enough to bring down the entire front of a building in oaklahoma...Lock it? block it?Or delete it immediately?
I forget the complainers name, but mailfriend!your topic became no topic and was justifiably shut down...

ok, i hope your ass gets rid of its pain soon.

the truth is these Americans don't want to talk about troubles in Iraq, when you say something about it they insult you as a response and they think it hurts. funny... this makes mods lock topics. look at all the Iraq topics inside,, all of them are locked because of insults directed by Americans to other members who have questions to know answers. they can't stand reality, they can't stand criticism, they don't want to talk about war things because they know they have a big shame and world watches it.they know US men are raping Iraqi kids, murdering Iraqi innocents etc. they can't show one single good point of the USA in Iraq. when they can't show one single good movement of USA they try to turn topic off to non-related subjects. all the same tactic,,then they cry here ''Hasta is spreading his hatred against Americans''... deal with realities, don't insult others when you disagree with them and behave mature. news from Iraq will go on...

True enough on this topic. But that comment by the pinprick just above here...THAT is funny. When he can learn to be honest...people would discuss. He has no desire to discuss. He has no desire to be honest. He does have a desire for sex with my son. That will not be tolerated. So the putz gets show for what he really is in public.

Hasta isn't the only one. He on his own wouldn't be able to make a topic turn into a fight. It takes two to tango.

No one can deny that some Western posters have vehemently insulted Turks and Islam in this channel. Why is it that nobody, except Turks, seems to note that?

Is it fair to complain about hasta's attacks (which I deeply disagree with) and not about other posters', which contrary to what has been said here, are equally violent (or even more in some cases)?

Is it fair to demand respect for some countries and not for others?

Is it fair for some posters to believe their country or culture to be legitimately superior to others, so much that they can freely insult others but complain when they are insulted themselves?

What I see here is childish nationalist competition, leading to continuous insults and unacceptable contempt and lack of respect for other countries and cultures.

deng wrote:

It isn't about it only turning into a fight. There have been PLENTY of times when he has repeatedly made vicious comments just to get things going, doesn't get the response he wants and keeps fanning the flames until the inevitable happens. Why doesn't he get banned? And if you (deng) think they both are wrong, fine, then ban them both. When it gets to that stage I can agree with the poster how ridiculous it is that topics are spoiled because of this. And I'm quite sure the low level of people coming onto MF lately has something to do with this.

@ Anicka AND deng, while I can relate to your distaste for certain people's comments against Turks, and while I certainly disagree with the generalisations, why don't you be truthful about it for once and admit that people like hasta are ALWAYS the ones who initiate dirty fights. I have NEVER seen an American or American-friendly person start a fight for sport the way he does, nor start insulting nations the way he does--and does so frequently. I find it reprehensible that you have nothing to say about *that*. I'm embarrassed for you because you don't have the shame to be so yourselves.

I can deal with heated debates or conversations, but what this channel has turned into is a caricature of world news discussions. So why don't you do your job, deng. Start banning people so the rest of us can have decent conversations in here. Or maybe this pitiable channel needs a new mod?

Because of insults directed by Americans, is it? How conveniently you forget the role you play in the locking of topics.

hasta la vista wrote:

This might explain much, because you seem to get pleasure out of the fact that topics cannot be discussed, because they get shut down. Which leads me to believe you can't handle adult conversation and debate, as perhaps is evidenced by your inability to provide succinct and verifiable claims and statements, as well as your ludicrous and outrageous charges that are way outside the bounds of common decency--the same decency you so often demand for yourself.

hasta la vista wrote:

See above re: verifiable claims.

hasta la vista wrote:

Nobody said you have to agree with what they see as good points of being in Iraq.

hasta la vista wrote:

Why don't you take some of your own advice? The respect you so badly desire is withheld not because you are Turkish, but rather because you are a massive bore. If you were Greenlandic he'd probably be calling you a "Greenlandic so and so."

Crap fucking english but a totally right conclusion (hmm... poor english catching)

It's not ljust this channel, in many channels fighting between a minority leads to the majority missing out simply because rather than having this fighting minority kicked out, everyone misses out through the locking of topics. The more it happens the less likely it is to have people participate in discussions because nothing is done to prevent others from coming in to create fights. It's reactive moderating at it's worst with mods waiting for a few people to ruin something for everyone before acting.

umm... i dont knw about the locked topic... but i guess as long as the debate abt any topic doesnt steer towards offensive or adult themes.. they shouldnt be locked.. you may warn or ban a person(s) but why lock an entire topic when other people r fine with that... i guess mailfriends is to make new friends instead of making new enemies ala chana batata and hasta la vista.. if one of u stops from making a remark i guess other fellow might also show some restraint. I dont knw who r more bad or fussy or evil(as Prez Bush says) americans or the turkish people... but this site had many more people too frm around the world... so lets stop all this..

Why do you make it personal? Why are you so angry at me? Why can't you respect a different opinion? I find your statement offensive and a clear lack of respect.

It's no surprise that there's no much intolerance in this channel. That's the problem here. People can't respect different views, and immediately start attacking those who differ from them.

But then, of course, they criticize others for not respecting "freedom of speech".
