You are the way you eat
Would you say that the way people eat describes their characters?

The WAY people eat has a lot to do with culture rather than character. In Japan they may eat certain meals with their hands. China they use chopsticks whereas eating the same thing somewhere else in the world they may use a fork. Some people choose to eat pizza with their hands or choose to cut it with a knife and eat with a fork. All to do with cultural upbringing.
Never thought of it that way, but to me it sounds reasonable. People who don't have much self-discipline in eating for example, probably don't have much self-discipline at all. And people who eat passionately often are passionate people in their everyday life. I could find more examples for sure, but I think I made my point clear.
I have always noticed peoples actions, whether eating, dancing, doing their jobs. I find there is many similarities to their characters, but the eating one actually pinpoints their characters more. If they are gulpers and don't chew their food properly, they tend to be very impatient, nervous, often overlooking many obstacles. If they are very slow eaters they tend to be very slow in finishing projects. If they are very precise in cutting their food and proportioning their food on the plate, they tend to be more neater and exact in their jobs. If they are pickers often moving around food on their plates or have a hard time choosing what to eat, they tend to have a harder time making decisions in life. This may not be quite the case with all, but just a few observances I made. I have also heard this comparison made to their sexual appetite as well... lol

I think there could be lots of truth in that... now when I compare my eating habits with my character I can draw lots of parallel lines
like, I eat quick and also prepare food quite quickly, but I don't like having an eating timetable.. same with my everyday life..
I'm not really careful what I eat, but still I eat quite healthy - I don't really plan things, but still manage to make mostly good decisions
I'm always proportioning food on my plate, but on the other hand I always make quite a mess, lol.. just like in real life - I'm almost too pedant with some things, but generally not very tidy, haha
Sorry, Can't see the connection.

I will ask someone who knows me quite well to watch me eating.
Beware the person that watches the way you eat, talk, act...especially on your first meeting, they might be analyzing your character and personality. lol
We all do it, and sometimes don't realize it. This is how we form opinions of each other.
The definition of personality..The totality of qualities and traits, as of character or behavior, that are peculiar to a specific person.

I can see connexion between the two. But in fact I don't think that the way people eat describes their character. To my point of view, the character of someone is a perceptible part of who people are. And the way of eating is another part of the "public" behaviour. Then, the two are related, but because they are both related to the "underwater" beings. One cannot be deducible from the other. Well, that's right that some details are perceptible when eating, especially when there's no pressure. That's the way people show themselves to the others: when they feel sure, they open themselves (in a more or less aware way...), they "forget" to hide some details that reflect their personnality.
But personnality, character, is more complicated than the way of eating. And even with a direct connexion, you cannot get a deduction from one time. After having eaten with somebody a few times, in very different conditions, you can begin to draw the large lines of its personnality... Well, that's what I think in any case.
I guess there are psychological features in everything we do, including the way we eat.

No, I don't think so. I think it plays no role at all. And even if it did there would always be exceptions.
