personally I favor the KJV because it is almost poetic. It is the closest translation to be music in writing than any other.
I'm a artsy kind of person sometimes

I have many versions, but I prefer The New King James Version. I have a friend though that calls the NIV. the non inspired version

I prefer NASB for reading and memorizing scriptures. Also, NKJ is a favorite.
I can't stand translations that stray too far from the original texts (like NIV, NCV, etc) in order to make things 'easier to understand'. I think in too many cases they draw inaccurate conclusions or over-simplify things. I also can't stand paraphrases or translations that don't capitalize Him when they're referring to God.
