Burial vs Cremation

What are thoughts about cremation and/or burial? Despite the religious beliefs, I am curious more on a personal level. example"Don't put me in the ground, I scared of the bugs!"

My idea about that differs from time to time, now I am thinking burial sothat my family has something to go to when they want.

femaleLeaa | 9 May 2008 - 11:30am

lol, don't be afraid of the bugs, most of them form from your own body. Actually I prefer cremation. It is not as long and drawn out as the long wake, crying and huge funeral show for everyone elses eyes. It also is less costly for the family afterwards. You can have a private showing before for the family and then off you go to the bbq. Very happy

Burial Thankyou very much

The idea of Cremation kinda freaks me to much... I dont really feel like suddenly waking up all of the sudden (just incase im not dead) and happen to go into the fire all of a sudden.. no

But seriously i would rather have a burial.. thats what i have ALWAYS wanted..

femaleSeagull_J_L | 9 May 2008 - 12:03pm

Burial. In as long as everyone in my family remembers not a single person in our huge family history has ever been cremated. Personally I have never been comfortable with the idea of cremation.

malepietro della | 9 May 2008 - 12:27pm

cremation is against jewish law,,we cremated adolf eichman because he cremated us..

maleshadowraccoon | 9 May 2008 - 1:15pm

Neither one is particularly appealing, but lately I have taken an interest into "natural" burials.

Cremation. Don't feel like taking up precious space away from the living.

We have in Germany (new in the last years) the possibility to be burried under a tree in the forest. That's where I want to have my rest.

femalePirate Wench | 9 May 2008 - 4:22pm

Cremation and scatter me where I can get up plenty of people's noses. Preferably cremated in an environment friendly coffin.

My family aren't the "sit at the graveyard and talk to the ground" type of people so there's no point in me being buried.

The Idea of a natural burying seems to appeal to me a lot Smile I have been browsing through that link and I find it rather interested and I guess that at the end of my life it can make me reaching my life goal, to be at one with nature Smile

After going through the hard sell of high dollar caskets for 2 people..
I would never doubt the power of a fire.
Why take up the space (who's coming after a generation)?, or put anyone through viewing that artless handiwork of the mortician...and the money...why waste it?
You might as well set it on fire.
Just have a service and have yourself scattered to the wind. You'll end up that way anyway..and save everyone else a lot of grief.

I'd like to be buried. I don't like cremations. It scares me.

In India most people are cremated. There is a scientific reason for this. They say that when a person leaves his physical body, he does not realize at once that he has died. It takes around 7 hours before a person is able to grasp that he is no longer in his body. It is because of this that he hovers around looking for his body, clothes, relatives, friends, etc to assure himself that he is still alive.
When a person is cremated, it causes a shock to the person which makes him realize that he is dead. The makes the trancision to the other world more faster. A person who is buried will linger for a longer period before he moves on.
That is what they say in India.
I prefer to be cremated and go in style. No crying and mourning. I prefer that everybody dances, sings and rejoices as my body is put on the funeral pyre.

I'm not sure yet, but either I'm going to have a burial that will make some people go bankrupt or I'll do it real quiet. I am thinking about the Boromir-method, that would float my boat (good god what a pun!), but then again I think there even might not be all that much left of me. When I die I intend to donate all of my organs to people who actually need them. I mean, intestines, yum and juicy, but it's not like they'll be still nice when I celebrate my 10th jubilee of death. I figured a good idea would be donating my body to a university. Sadly, I wouldn't make any use of the thus acquired money, but at least everybody would be happy.

The economic anarchy of capitalist society as it exists today is, in my opinion, the real source of the evil. We see before us a huge community of producers the members of which are unceasingly striving to deprive each other of the fruits of their collective labour. I am convinced there is only one way to eliminate these grave evils, namely through the establishment of a socialist economy, accompanied by an educational system which would be oriented toward social goals.

I think a family funeral could be one of the most tramatic events to take place in one's life. From attending so many of family/friends and seeing the long drawn out displays. I can't imagine putting my family through this. A quick ceremony for their benefit is all I want. When I had thought of this over the years, I would ask myself. Since I am dead and no longer care about the body that betrayed me in allowing me to die, which could I possibly want more? An expensive funeral for my family to bear, make-up trying to make we look my best, when I am at my worst and displaying me to all the people that didn't care two shakes about me, when I was alive to visit me, only to bury and rot. Or, an inexpensive quick small ceremony for the people that really cared and getting burnt, which I am not going to feel anyway and a burial in a small beautiful spot of their choice. The answer was extremely easy in the end.
