This might become a touchy subject for a few so please keep your tempers and an open mind!!

I get the impression that some (notice how I said SOME) people join sites like this looking for a quick relationship and maybe marriage in order to leave their country? Remember this is only an impression I get. I am in no way trying to offend anyone.

For some that might be true, for me the friendships are the most important.

I agree with Micha, but I have to say I realize what the "delete" button is for however, I do like the chance to speak and be friends with people and give them a chance without deleting them. I usually set them straight right away just so a friendship may ensue.Friend hopefully anyways.

i just try to find some friends and maybe visit them one day. it's a good way to get to know other countries and cultures. Smile

It did happen at least one time that people who met each other on this site, actually married each other. I don't think that their intention when they joined was to find someone to marry, but sometimes things happen that you don't expect. You can talk to someone here and find out that in real life you really like that person and eventually start a real life relationship and even a marriage. I think it is very strange that people join this site, just to have a marriage. I guess that a marriage can't take place when you don't go through the stages of Online friendship, real life friendship, real life relationship and than you can end up with a marriage when you really love that person.

Well your impression is certainly right. At least that's what I think. Some people really do. I just can't imagine that, but it happens.

I agree with you Pat! And everyone else who has posted so far!! But since I have my "dream guy" I am on this site to make more international friends and get help in learning other languages Smile

What's wrong with that? Why not try to find a relationship or mariage this way? I admit that some do it too clumsy, without considering cultural differences (e.g. what is accepted as good manners in different counties). I think thouse are the people PrettyPeaceful thought about. For those you have to use the "ignore" list or delete button.

its true some people do hope to find that .... but for me i think any sort of friendship is the best and if u looking for more, then a friendship is the best way to start rather than advertising for a relationship or even marriage Smile

yeah, i think so too but well, it wasn't my intention when i signed up on here and i'm neither looking for a relationship or anything like that online. in my eyes long distance relationships don't really work out and i don't want to move to another country either so yeah, it's just not really my thing and besides that and above all, i do have a boyfriend i love and who's living totally close to me so i couldn't find anything better anyway Wink
