Should pot be legalized??
Should pot be legalized or should it still remain an offence? I think it should be legalized for the people who are using it for medicinal purposes only. If they should ever legalize it, it should treated the same way as alcohol. Anybody's thoughts on this?

I know it's used for glycoma and pain relief, there is also a possibility of a link between cannabis and mental disorders such as schizophrenia. I know this has not been proved decisively yet, until the full research has been completed, it shouldn't be legalised.

In itself there is nothing wrong with pot. It isn’t even addictive, it is the human mind that makes it.
On one hand I do not see much benefit in legalizing another substance that might, if consumed excessively, have a negative impact on peoples life on the other hand, I really do not want the government to make this decision for me. I guess, nowadays, alcohol (yes, even the nice glass of redwine after dinner), tobacco, motorcycles (MUCH too dangerous!)…and, and, and, would not have any chance. Where would that end?
Over here in Germany one may own a small portion of pot for personal use. It is not legal but will not be prosecuted. However, there is no legal place to buy it at. One benefit in legalizing pot (aside from a potential clinical use) I can see is in legalizing places that sell it. It could prevent consumers to get in contact with the real drug scene, with people who want to persuade the kids into the hard drugs.
I really like the Dutch approach and it has proven to be successful. No pot problem in the Dutch society, only the tourists coming over from non-legal countries who overdo it.

I agree completely. There is worse things than pot and the illegality only pulls those who maybe just want to try it, into the drug scene where the danger of getting addicted to the real bad stuff is immense.
Also, pot is probably one of the ONLY drugs that make people LESS dangerous. ![]()

The economic anarchy of capitalist society as it exists today is, in my opinion, the real source of the evil. We see before us a huge community of producers the members of which are unceasingly striving to deprive each other of the fruits of their collective labour. I am convinced there is only one way to eliminate these grave evils, namely through the establishment of a socialist economy, accompanied by an educational system which would be oriented toward social goals.

My wrinkly old grandparents have grown, smoked and ate the plant of plenty for over 60 years, never abused it or others because of it, it took me years to find out his pipe tobacco wasn’t on general sale……
There is far more dangerous and legal substances for sale than a bit of weed….

Most definitely, also thinking it might be a good idea to bring it into the Churches to replace the incense. (did you ever smell that stuff?)
Think of it, attendance would be up, and everyone is happy and painfree. ![]()
Or in the workplace, moral would be up (high) 100%

Is that what's wrong with you Percy
Just kidding! Firstly, Not Addictive is a myth or a sales prop, whichever way you wanna' view it. Secondly, I can vouch that it is not nearly as mind altering as alchohol, but I wouldn't quite suggest it while driving or on the job. And our Native Americans had used it for centuries before us to help keep in touch with their Great Spirit & Spiritual healing. I don't see any harm in the use of it in churches or medicinal purposes legally. It not being legal for such is only putting money in local Governments' pockets.

Garry, when it comes to drugs of any kind, you have the physical dependency and the mental addiction , with addiction how much is down to the individual, we hear so often that this person or that person has an addictive personality. Many times when somebody has an addiction it is to more than one substance, an almost pre-disposed to addiction of one form or another, me it’s tobacco, fast cars and slow women. ![]()

Once, when I was 17 years old, I didn't like it. It hurt my throat, made me cough, and then made me eat!![]()

I smoked it once a couple days ago too. ![]()
But um... there have been more days than I can count when I smoked it much more than once! ![]()
I think it should be as legal as a pack of marlboro's... I'd much rather spend my money on cartons of "420 100's" than on kools and newports.

Legalize it, regulate it, and tax it. Just think of the amount of taxpayer money we would save by freeing all those who are imprisoned for possessing a few ounces of pot and cutting out all those people employed in chasing down the growers/sellers of the weed. On the other hand, I suspect the pot growers are making hefty political contributions to keep the stuff illegal because, otherwise, they would be out of business. I am alergic to the stuff so badly that I can't even be in the same room where somebody is smoking it and, besides, I used to work in an industry where random drug testing was the rule and failing a test or refusing to take it could destroy a person's entire career.

As far as I know its legalized in the Netherlands.
