Olympic Games & Politics!
Do you think that political matters mixing with sports festivals are fine?

Depends on the degree to which you mix it. Also it takes some very serious pondering and thinking about the matter because IF you choose to mix the two, complications are preassigned.
In my opinion a boycott of the Olympic Games in Beijing is nonsense. This country opens up for a huge festival like this and the best thing people can think of, is letting the chance of communication with the people there go by? Nu-uh. Let's put it this way. Mixing the two would be fatal, but combining the two (there's a very subtle difference, so I hope I get the point across) could be helpful. It's not about blending the two, but about aligning the two for the purpose of the good cause of reaching the Chinese population. This is really difficult to express, but I hope I made it understandable. In my opinion, offending and denying the Chinese as the organisators of the Games would rather harden the hearts than do any good.

The economic anarchy of capitalist society as it exists today is, in my opinion, the real source of the evil. We see before us a huge community of producers the members of which are unceasingly striving to deprive each other of the fruits of their collective labour. I am convinced there is only one way to eliminate these grave evils, namely through the establishment of a socialist economy, accompanied by an educational system which would be oriented toward social goals.

I agree with tiska.letting oppressed people see what is outside is good, however, the chinese people have always considered all foreigners to be barbarians,we had better watch how we act over there.
IF they really open up, why are they kicking out foreign students and even many tourists, who already got a visa under former circumstances? Why do they let almost nobody in for watching the games? I agree that, as it is done while soccer games take place, hooligans shouldn't be able to cross the border, but there are so many peaceful people, who just want to watch the games and are not allowed to enter China!
The Olympic Games are an international competition and everybody all over the world should be allowed to watch it in the arenas, if they can afford to travel there.
Fact is that normal people like you and me would talk to the natives, while rich people or politicians just talk to one's peers. Fact is also that the government hates democracy and free minds. There are many people, who are in prison, just because they "don't think in a loyal way". Those methods make me remind the DDR and Stasi.
As long as I remember, the European countries have always disliked the oppression in China because of the human rights, but now the Olympic Games will take place there and everything is quite fine. I had the money for the journey and I wanted to go there to watch the games, but as a foreign student I don't fullfill all the criterias.

Of course not! Mixing politics with the Olympic Games destroys the Olympic Spirit. It's the same as mixing religion with politics.
But I do agree to the politicians, who say that there has to be a big change concerning the human rights in China. The Olympic Games stand for peace and equality and not for suppression and racism.
I mention racism because of the big changes concerning the immigration rules, which make it almost impossible to get into China for watching the games. I guess this shows us how equal and welcome we are, as long as we aren't any politicians of industrial countries or rich moguls of industry, who possibly could finance or support anything in China.
If it was up to me, I would refuse the participation of the national Olympic sports team in this country.
