in my country its legal since many years,.. and i agree with that, women should make their own decisions in their life, not the government.

maleRock Hunter | 4 March 2009 - 2:35pm

I'm pro choice but I'd prefer for the baby to live.

My comment is one you will seldom hear.

I don't have a problem with abortion per se. However, I have a problem with the fact that the father does not need to approve, or even be informed.

Is this the 'equality' that women fought so hard for, and still claim they do not have?

eddie is right. if the woman got pregnant by her boyfriend, husband, lover or whatever, both should have to agree. just in case of rape it should be only the woman's choice.
so, i'm also pro abortion.

malespoonless_eddie | 4 March 2009 - 4:04pm

Yes. Rape, incest, the mother alone has the say.

I agree with rebecca1990 absolutely. Women must be absolutely free to make their own decisions over their bodies. I'm a man, and I wouldn't like to loose a baby, but the final decision must be done by the woman who is pregnant.
I congratulate all people who live in countries in which abortion is legal.

Here's the tough question.

The mother wants an abortion, but the father wants the child. Neither has a job, or money to raise a child. What then?

Ya´ll forgetting the younger group (the 12-15 years of girls) that ends up getting pregnant.

malespoonless_eddie | 4 March 2009 - 4:52pm

Yes, there more possible scenarios than I suggested. I only have thoughts about some of them. I am glad I don't have to make these laws.

Well, i'm not a total anti-abortionist and it's easier to understand in certain situations than it is in others, but still, i'd rather a child live than die, obviously. What is messed up is the attitude of so many who get pregnant these days and treat it like it's nothing. Cue young people meeting, getting drunk, having sex and thinking well, it's ok anyway because there's the ever-so-convenient morning after pill. I could never be happy about an unborn child being killed, but people need to stop getting themselves into this position in the first place. It's either another life that could have been, being stopped in it's tracks (when there are many people who would dearly love to care for a baby), or another stupid couple having yet another baby they can't look after.

From the vantage point of the West it is surprising to hear that any government is closing abortion clinics. That's certainly not what's happening here. Here most people take the view that abortion is perfectly acceptable, no different from many another bit of minor physical alteration.

"Women's right to choose", I must confess, has always struck me as a very false and petty minded basis on which to claim the right to end someone else's life. Which is what is being done, whatever semantics you indulge in about the nature or status of pre-natal life. I don't know whether a foetus can be described as a human being or not, but, speaking for myself, I would say that I wouldn't do to the dumbest animal what is done to a human foetus in abortion. It seems to me a vicious thing to do to any living ceature. At the very least it seems like it ought to be viewed as a grim necessity, to be undertaken only for the most serious of reasons, when nothing else is to be done.

Agreed. In the US though, unfortunately, the first people to object to abortion, are the last to support sex education in schools. They are not first in line to adopt these children, either. I wish it were otherwise.

Agreed. From what little personal knowledge I have of this subject, the average woman who undergoes an abortion finds it to be a traumatizing experience. This too could be taught in schools.

I've always been a firm believer in, "They'll do the right thing if we just tell them the truth." As adults, we need to bulk up on telling the truth, before we place blame on young people.

Well said.

femaleArinnnn | 5 March 2009 - 7:25pm

In Indonesia, they said :

1. No sex without marry first. Its ilegal. People call it "kumpul kebo". And if it known, the couple must be married (married by accident?)

2. Abortion can be done for medical reasons only, ex: to save the mother's life, and the pregnancy not over than 3 months. It will legal from doctor's statements. Outside of the medical reasons, there's no abortion.

3. And last, religions said too, no sex with other that don't have marital status with, no kill unborn baby coz they also human and take all the responsibility for the pregnancy.

Hmmm...

Even though sex before marriage is illegal or forbidden, there still excist something called prostitution and forced prostitution.

maleytnbfjhg | 9 March 2009 - 7:39am

Pro Abortion. The woman's choice is all that matters.

femaleArinnnn | 9 March 2009 - 10:35am

Yeah, in here there are some prostitution places. How about if some women from prostitution places getting pregnant? The government not allowed abortion, so that women must take responsibility n babies must live. Wink

My personal opinion is that abortion is wrong totally, however that is as I say a personal viewpoint.
Such things can be a major heartbreaking decision for the people who have to make it.

The thing I always find distasteful is the women who use it as an easy escape for pregnancy caused through low moral standards.
