HOLY COW BATMAN!

The East Coast is HUGE and the culture changes as you travel along its length. I can tell you that S. FL is a mixing pot of the Caribbean and people from Central and South America along with everyone else.

People on the East Coast don't have first names, they spell things the weird (British Razz ) way, are sticklers for being on time and many of them try to rival the Beiruti driving style.

Have fun! Razz

Bring a coat and boots for sure. Even the south is freezing. The US coast has probably 3 or 4 distinct sub cultures but is generally friendly. Upper Maine even has areas where French is the main language but is very cold and not a good job market. North Carolina is good place with many jobs and good universities.

What would you be doing in the States? FYI...people on the east coast do have first names. The comment on North Carolina reminded me of something a friend said recently. She's from South Carolina and went back for a visit after being gone for thirty years. She was so disappointed that it's changed so much...not nearly as 'civil' as it used to be (people saying ma'am and sir all the time). She blames it on all the outsiders that have moved in over the years (meaing from errr...'yankee' states). I had to chuckle since here in California we've dealt with newcomers since we BECAME a state!

Anyway, good luck when you get here!
