Hello and thanks for stopping by my page. :) I love to read and can't stop because if I do I can't
breathe.
What I dig: reading, writing, music, ice skating, maps, lavendar oil, iced tea with no sugar, road trips, cooking, sewing, sword fighting, Anais Anais, Femina, scarves, harissa, music, flying in airplanes (especially the whoooosh through your gut when you take off and BUMP when you land), climbing up the butte, heavy rain beating against my window, art projects my boy brings home from school, fresh sugar cane juice, coloring, cinema, Hello Kitty, people who talk to aliens with porpoises as their conduits, felt tip markers, kiwi fruit, sledding, ice cream, travel, interesting and different watchbands, take away Indian food as a picnic, cheetahs, breakfast for dinner, watching the sunset from Flattop Mountain, Smarties, things mediaeval.
I have always loved African animals and looking at documentaries about them; however, I haven't had TV for several years now so I don't see them. But I've had time recently to borrow some DVDs from the library and am getting really interested in knowing more about the countries in southern Africa. (I don't mean what you learn in history classes.) The only ones I know anything about are Botswana and South Africa, but this body of knowledge (if you can call it that) is very limited. Sooooo...if you are from these or other area countries and don't mind telling me a bit about your land, I would love to hear it. :)
I haven't been as serious in recent years about music as I used to be, mainly because there were a few years there that were pretty atrocious and life entailed mainly survival. It sounds sucky, and it was, but the good news is it gets better every year and I am starting to become myself again, and hopefully a better, more informed, more fun, more thoughtful me than I used to be. And if not, I have a kid to kick my arse into gear.
Speaking of the wee one, he is the artiste (see above) and has called his drawing "Kellie." I guess it's like a little butterfly with attitude. He loves to draw, wants to go live in India and loves his build-a-bear (named Ariel).
I'm so not in love with: marriage, high heels, hypocrites, hot weather, dedicated victims, shirkers,
aggressive drivers with no actual skills, and fanatics about anything. I believe in God and like lots of vegetarian recipes, but I'm not into people condescendingly telling me how I should be living my life. I consider myself a feminist and engage in a fair amount of finger pointing at men, but I also think it is time women start taking a hard look at the ways in which they perpetuate their own colinisation. I admit that having a boy child led me to this, as I began to read more about education and was pretty dismayed and disgosted to see how boys are treated in some school districts--as if being a boy is dangerous and wrong.

If your dad just died in a military coup and left a fortune that can only be retrieved by some ignorant foreigner: We don't have banks on Greenland.
For DJ and all your boys and girls: My appreciation for you is endless.
Robert Stethem, you are not forgotten.

If I could run a country for a day...
There'd be some shaking up going on
If I could be you...
I wouldn't get near me
It's good to have...
