More About Me

Disclaimer: If you're a guy, and especially if you're from sub-Saharan Africa, please don't write me. I'm not interested!

I'm Blake. I'm a 35-year-old male from Texas. Please don't hold those 3 things (age, gender, place of origin) against me. ;-)

I enjoy playing music (mostly guitar) and learning foreign languages. I've been doing both for more than 20 years. I'm fluent in Spanish and Portuguese. I've been to Brazil, Mexico, and Panama. One of these days I plan to visit Spain, where one of my 16 great-great-great-grandfathers came from. There's a lot of Irish in my family. And some German. I'm conversational in French and Italian, and basic in German and Russian. I've studied Esperanto. About 2 million people worldwide speak Esperanto. That's more than the number of people who speak Icelandic or a Celtic language. I speak a little Norwegian and Icelandic also. (Jeg er god i språk. Ég er góður í málum.) I'd like to learn Irish, since most of my ancestors came from Ireland. I had foreign pen-pals for a long time and they've helped me a lot when I was studying and learning their languages.

I'm also into martial arts. In high school I took Tang Soo Do (Chuck Norris' original martial art) for a while. In college I took Tae Kwon Do for 2 years. At another college an Aikido instructor would come on campus and teach Aikido to students. Now I'm into internal Chinese martial arts such as T'ai Chi and Yi Quan.

I follow a blog called The Archdruid Report by John Michael Greer, Archdruid of AODA (Ancient Order of Druids in America). His blog is mostly focused on peak oil. He updates it once a week. I follow a Druidic path myself.

I'm mostly on this site to meet new people (unless you're a guy from Africa). I do astrology and numerology, so if you'd like to have some additional insight into yourself, let me know.
Love is...

hard to find.

If I won the lottery...

I'd move to a country where they spend billions of tax dollars/euros on social programs instead of on wars.

If I could fly...

I wouldn't have to worry about the high cost and inconveniences of flying commercially.

What I love to do:

music, foreign languages, martial arts
